TOBAGO - Welcome to the beautiful island of Tobago! Today we are beginning with a breadfruit roast on the beach with some amazing grilled fish and fish broth. Then we’re getting a full lesson on traditional dirt oven baking in Tobago. Next you can’t miss crab and dumplings when you’re in Tobago, and finally we’re finishing with a few street food favorites. Tobago is so beautiful, people are laid back, and the food culture is so tasty!

Big thank you to #visitTrinidad and Visit Tobago (www.visittobago.gov.tt/) for inviting me to Trinidad and Tobago and for making this trip happen! Guide to the things and food in this video:

Castara, Tobago - We’re beginning this food tour today on the beach with a fish and breadfruit roast. This is something I truly love, being connected with nature, cooking over fire, and seeing the entire process before eating. The breadfruits were some of the best I’ve ever had and the fish was marinated and grilled. The fish broth was also spectacular. What a way to begin.

Backyard Dirt Oven - Next up we met up with Ms Moore & Wendell for a backyard dirt oven experience. Dirt oven baking is something that’s traditional in Tobago and they are keeping the tradition alive. I especially loved the garlic bread and pumpkin bread with cheese.

Miss Trim's Kitchen (goo.gl/maps/XspFWniJz9hVCojaA?entry=yt) - It there’s one dish that’s the most famous and a dish you can’t leave Tobago without eating, it’s crab and dumplings. The crab is curried and the dumplings are hearty and doughy. The combination is delicious!

Block 22 - Finally to complete this Tobago food tour we tried the fried chicken sandwich wat Block 22 - one of the late night staples.

This entire series on Trinidad and Tobago has been one of the best adverts I’ve ever seen for the twin-island republic. The locations, the cuisine and the genuine interaction with the people has really been an absolute pleasure to watch. This is coming frm a Trinidadian who feels extremely proud seeing Mark showcase what our country is all about. PS …….A trini Christmas is an entirely different experience in itself ……….maybe next year !

Mark, the trick to eating a Block 22 Fried Chicken Sandwich is to get it with Coconut Bake, and 'dress it' with ketchup, garlic sauce, a little mustard and your favorite, pepper sauce! 🇹🇹😅 We Trinis love our food 'saucy'! Ketchup and mustard is a must for Fried Chicken. 👌
  • Both my wife and I are avid viewers for quite a while of Mark's food videos from around the world, but justice was really done in showcasing the diversity of our archipelagic state's cuisine, people and culture, proud to be Trinbagonian, and in time to come we will have a lot more to offer, much love from Cap De Ville, Point Fortin, well done to the hosting team, and keep up the great work Mark, come again soon.
