Love Mark "Moose" Messier as much as any Oilers fan. He's from St. Albert, a small city north of Edmonton, and he played for us quite a while winning all five of our dynastic cups. Along with Wayne Gretzky, he's got a road in the city named after him, for Mess, the road from Edmonton to his hometown of St. Albert is called Mark Messier Way. For those wondering, the road to the old arena where the Oilers won all of the cups bears Gretzky's name.

Messier looks the exact same for the last 30 years. That’s amazing.

Messiah! His leadership brought lord Stanley to NY and I was in tears June of 1994. Trusting in our boys to bring it back so my son can experience the same feeling

Brind'Amour was a hell of a player in his own right. Such a good matchup.

Messier does so much for us military boys. After a military tourney he supported, he spent 2 hours talking over breakfast with us ❤

Man, the comments about Swayman and the Bruins did not age well just a few hours later.
  • Man, I was 8 years old back in 1994 watching that Stanley Cup run with my family. What a line up that was lead by this legend.
  • Messier is awesome . Perhaps the Quintessential Hockey Player with his skill and intelligence and toughness and natural leadership ability. I didn't realize he started so young. The first time I heard his name was in 1974 when I attended a hockey camp in Montreal. One of our counselors would talk about this kid named Messier. I never forgot, but figured it was an older brother or something. Now I realize it was Mark! I now live in Dallas and am delighted to hear his daughter will be attending TCU! Gretzky's daughter is now at SMU. Dallas is becoming an incredible Hockey Town!! Please keep the Hokey Talk on this PodCast. I Love It

Should’ve asked him about the Canucks 😂

I was 9 years old had a hockey tournament at water ville valley, New Hampshire. It was prob a 10 team tournament. Mark messier was one of the coaches of the teams nobody knew it until we played them. His son was on his team. And I remember afterwards at the local restaurant he came in took pictures and signed a bunch of autographs. He was the man. I still have the picture and autograph framed on my wall. The autograph was the back of the restaurants menu lmao

As a life long Western NY'er I'm both a hockey and football fan. I grew up between Rochester and Buffalo on Lake Ontario, back then we used antennas on the roof of the family home to receive broadcasts from Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse occasionally, and of course, Canada. I'm a life long Leafs fan! The Olympic coverage from Canada was live compared to the United States airing 6 hr old material. I was hoping to hear what Mess had to say about my Leafs. They're top heavy with young talent and becoming the NHL's version of the Romo lead Cowboys. First round exit every yr, (except last season, where they went to game 7 just to lose) yet every season they get talked about being the "team to beat" ! The NHL has different rules for the playoffs compared to the regular season along with the most ridiculous bracketing system known to North American Sports!

The game 6 guarantee was one of the best moments in hockey history!
  • @Sandy_Papito
Mess! I've got his jersey and a signed stick. Awesome clip. Hey we need Rupp! With that's hockey talk being on pause, I don't see that guy anymore

3:52 actually.. Vancouver was the city on fire after the rangers won in 94’.. literally 😂

Oilers fan here. Mark Messier is right. And Stuart Skinner has the City on his back like Grant Fuhr; both boys are local Edmonton guys that are high-caliber goalies. Stewie needs to keep locking in and we can finally hoist a Cup. I honestly think that yes Stewie's impact is more impactful than anyone else except McDavid and maybe Drai. Paul Coffey is a great coach as well. Go Oilers Go
