The Beach Boys has such an incredibly odd history, love hearing new bits of it all the time. It's like every time you find something super weird, there's something even weirder down the road.

"Charles holds a hunting knife to Dennis' throat..." 9:39 10 seconds later. "Charles was difficult to work with."
  • Great video, it’s a shame we lost Dennis that young, he really got better and better as a songwriter as the years went on. His solo album Pacific Ocean Blue is great!

In a story that included Charles Manson, somehow Mike Love is still a more despised figure in the band's history.
  • Coming from a hardcore Beach Boys fan, "Never Learn Not To Love" is one of the best produced tracks from 20/20.

Terry Melcher was once quoted as saying that Charles Manson was the second most difficult person he had ever worked with in the music business. He said the most difficult was David Crosby.

Years ago when i was working at a record store a used copy of LIE came in. Bought it immediately for the novelty of it. A few actual catchy songs, some awful songs and a few that are just kinda creepy.
  • Damn. The largest extent of the story I’ve always heard was that they met, recorded some music, and then lost touch a year or 2 before the murders. I had no idea about all the other stuff. That’s so interesting.
  • Dennis Wilson's lack of judgement in choosing friends and house guests was mind-boggling bad to say the least. I read something somebody had written on Jim Morrison's grave in Paris many years ago "Never trust a hippie" which is still good advice.
  • I knew that Never Learn Not to Love was written by Manson. I also had heard about the "family" living off of Dennis. Including the expensive treatment for STDs. What is new to me is that a whole album of material was recorded by Manson in Brian's studio.

What if Phil Spector produced Charles Manson ? It would have been kind of funny seeing them threatening eachother all day long, one with a gun, the other one with a knife.
  • Your content is always top shelf stuff but lately it's been especially spot on. Thank you for the work you put into this channel and each video. Keep spinning.

Dennis will always be the real Beach Boy
  • This was excellent! Always wondered about the details so thank u good sir and cheers! 🍹🍹
  • Just listened to the 1st 2 songs from Manson's album for the first time...they were like live recordings in a bedroom. But if they had proper production, they'd actually be really good. I can see the potential. Like Donovan mixed with Dylan. Damn, now I REALLY want to hear that master 8-track
