The only place I disagree with the clear storage is the pantry- just because of the practicality of being able to see what food you have while keeping it organized!

I am that cleaner, textured tile in the shower-NO, and on that note, showers that only have a waterfall shower head and no separate hand held head to rinse down the glass are a nightmare to clean 🙄

My only thing about clear storage is that it’s very neurodivergent friendly. Now, I will say that as someone with ADHD I do have most of my storage hidden in cupboards/closets/other closed storage, but within those units I try to keep everything as visible as possible because otherwise I just literally forget it exists.
  • I have never seen a ceiling faucet(I need to get out more!) my kitty would be working that hanging faucet like a stripper pole 😅

You and Nick Lewis need to do a collab. The sass and snark would be off the charts, and would make for a hialrious video!
  • The other con unfortunately about any dark exterior is that it fades faster and uneven based on sun direction

I live in Florida and a neighbor just painted their house black to go with their new black shingled roof. I couldn't believe my eyes. I'd hate to have their electric bill!!

I think ultra modern can work very nicely in certain spaces. Like the secret lair of a super villain, or... Nope, really just a villain lair.
  • I'm 75 and have lived in lots of homes over the years. His ideas are spot on. Listen up people you don't want any of the items he listed. I always say to myself "is this easy to keep clean?" Doesn't matter what it is. If it looks dirty and you hate to clean it just looks tacky. Modern looks beautiful but most of us actually live in our homes so be selective about what stuff you want in your home. I laughed over the corner tub (yes I've had those - hated it)), those terrible short backslashes (all new built homes seem to have them) but my pet peeves are the tiny double shallow sinks in kitchens (can't fit anything in them), and putting microwave over the stove (I'm short). loved this video. I'm s fan!

See through storage is perfect inside hidden storage.

I really wouldn't mind having clear storage containers in a walk-in closet. That way, I can save a lot of time looking for things in drawers or other types of non-see through storage options. In summer, I like to put my woolens in airtight containers with cedar chips to keep moths away. Since I don't have see-through containers, I wind up storing everything in black plastic bags in the basement. 😝
  • Wanted to hate something you said but couldn’t. lol. You were right on point. On a personal observation, I am so over the whole open floor plan concept. Who likes to kick back and relax and look over to see dirty dishes in the sink. Sometimes you just can’t help it. Plus I don’t always feel the need to be around others. I’m happy for some alone time occasionally.

OMG, what! Ceiling faucets!!! Get out! I didn't even know they existed! No, just NO!
  • @GlueGunsRoses
I don't like free standing tubs in the middle of the room. My mom's bathroom is bigger than my living room with a tub in the middle and I hate it. It seems like a waste of space and it only gets used like 6 times a year.
  • @HoVseMD
I keep my acrylic storage closed but I love it- I can find any jewelry, shoes or shirts that I had from dinosaur years and would not use if I didn’t see them.😂😂😂
  • I really love and appreciate this is mostly about designing practical not just aesthetically. We don’t live in an Instagram picture lol.
  • Ultramodern has the warmth of a Soviet gulag. A textured rock for a bathroom gives that lovely outdoor bathroom feel, but all I can think of is all the mineral deposits and dust it makes my head ache. My ideal kitchen and bathroom have smooth tile with a floor drain for fast and easy cleaning. The corner tub - my bathroom at my parent's house was tight and a corner tub actually worked. There was no extra wasted space, for that layout it worked. I am 6' and the corner tub (plain soaking) was wonderful, but it was oblong and had a corner seat most of the way up the wall of the tub - not the triangle shape. It was one of the few tubs my 6'4" husband and I could both fit in (bit snug but we fit). So I would say a corner tub with an oblong design works if it works with the bathroom layout.

I was 7 when I stood up to get out of the tub and bumped the glass shelf, a sheet of glass laying on two brackets. Cut my foot, 4 stitches. Still have the scare 60 years later. If you are going to have glass shelves ANY where, don't have children.

clear storage is key for storing sewing supplies, all the textiles, yarn, supplies for creative stuff etc. I don't want to pull out every box to see what is inside. That being said, they 100% are hidden away in a NOT see through closet :D
