Home Alone Injury Review:    • Doctor Reacts To Home Alone Injuries

The Simpsons is one of the longest-running shows in the history of television, and with characters like Dr. Hibbert and Dr. Nick, they’ve had no shortage of health-related episodes and scenes. Today I dove deep into some of the funniest and most curious medical moments in the history of the Simpsons, such as Homer’s body fat test, Bart visiting an HMO, and Mr. Burns somehow having every disease known to man. Watch to the end to see what The Simpsons got right, and what they got wrong.

I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

Next will be “reacting to South Parks medical scenes” 😂

I always loved the scene where they have Homer in a tank to measure his body fat, and it registers more than 100 percent, then they pan over to show him eating a bag of pork rinds and the doctor berates him for eating in the tank.
  • I googled it. Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) is a rare, serious disorder of the skin and mucous membranes. It's usually a reaction to medication that starts with flu-like symptoms, followed by a painful rash that spreads and blisters. Then the top layer of affected skin dies, sheds, and begins to heal after several days.

Video idea: Your nephews try to find medical inaccuracies in medic dramas to see how much they have learned from Uncle Mike.
  • “Your doctor watches YouTube before performing surgery on you.” Imagine being about to operate and you get two 30 second unskippables
  • As a kid, I remember the doctor threatening me with a shot if I didn't calm down. I was already terrified of being there

An issue I've encountered a few times upon seeing a new doctor is they start "casually" asking questions without stating their purpose. During the questioning they ask how my father and/or mother is doing, and so on and so forth. When they then respond to one of my answers about my parents by shifting the line of their conversation I'll realize that they're attempting to get a family medical history, upon which I'll tell them to stop since I'm adopted.

I love how Mike's simultaneously annoyed but intrigued by the inaccuracies in the Simpsons 😂

One of my favourit Dr Hibbert quotes: - But i thought broccoli was healthy. - Oh no, it's one of the most poisonous plants around. It tries to warn us with its bad taste.

My daughter watches your channell all the time. She has a great interest in medicine...largely due to the fact that she suffers from PPMS as well as other medical issues. I bought her a copy of Grey's Anatomy (the medical book, not the TV show) and she has read more than half since March. She's a obessive reader. She enjoys the way you teach people basic medicine in a fun and constructive way. Because she's housebound most of the time you have brought her a lot of joy so I just wanted to thank you Dr.Mike...and let you know that you are making a huge difference in the lives of chronically ill people, including myself. So God Bless and keep doing what you're doing. There is always room for new knowledge. 😁👏🙏

I don’t think the goal of the Simpsons was medical accuracy 😂
