I video taped this off the Weather Channel until we lost power around 9:30 pm for a week. What a Friday the 13th that was! You can see how dry air wrapped around the back end so after the center passed it was pretty much over . There was roof tar paper and branches in my yard and the wooden fence was down but no damage at all to my house. A van down the street had a huge pine tree laying across the middle of it in the driveway. Damage was mainly around the center like a big twister had crossed central florida instead of a huge hurricane.

Back when the most panicked music on the weather channel was still chill as it gets

I was 5 and I remember it VERY WELL, we went straight through the eye and it was one of the most incredible things.

Exactly it was like a fast moving big twister. You don't hear many mentions of this with Charley through Central Florida. It was over rather fast. Not the typical duration of a hurricane. Really, the Orlando area faired well in 2004 with the unusual amount of storms that hit the state.
  • Whose here because of Hurricane Ian? May take the same track!
  • I watched the radar over and over and said that's not going to Tampa. The music thou🙄

The eyewall went right to Polk county I lived there in 2004
  • hurricane charley did a little.less damage for 2 reasons one it missed Tampa Florida and second it was moving fast so.it only hit for like 11 hours normal hurricanes can hit for 36 to 72 hours
