I own several Pelican cases, these things are excellent cases. Great warranty (guaranteed for Life) & made in the USA, far better than those cheap chinese knockoffs from Harbor Freight.
  • I have the 1650 and the 1630. I keep my emergency bag in the 1650 in the back of my vehicle, and I chain the Pelican to the frame so it can’t easily be stolen. Pretty much fool proof against smash and grab - most thieves don’t carry bolt cutters.

Being prior military I have two of the 1610's one smaller than the 1610 and a couple of the larger one's. The bigger ones I use for my hunting clothes because they are air tight.

I have had one of these for years and really like. The cord is for power to run the ventilator.

I just got good news yesterday.. a friend of the family's just gave me 119 military ammo cans woohoo

looks like this case will be a great one for the setup you are planning. you could recycle the foam you take out for use elsewhere

i have many peli cases. good also for hamradio gear. I find the 1550 a good size.
  • I have one a little smaller the 1610 and a couple range bag size. The large one is for my arm pistol and night vision. The smallest is set up with grab and go ammo and the other will be used for comms and other small electronics.

Good video on a good product. When you say retract I think you mean extend. Retract means to pull in,like retractable landing gear on a plane.

Just make sure you can get a replacement gasket. I have 2 cases and one they definitely do not make a gasket for anymore. Yes I called them.

I use a nice hacksaw blade or a serrated bread knife for cutting foam.

I have seen HUMVEE's on Pelican cases used as jack stands. With a piece of plywood on top.

Does the rivets on that tag affect the water resistance?

We always used those small ones to hold cigars
