Now that I've gotten some time to dig into the Hero Talent system in the War Within alpha, it's time to take a deeper look at the system itself, and the philosophies and strategies guiding the design. What's working, what isn't, and what are the hurdles and challenges the designers will need to overcome?

I feel like hellcaller should be a tree that focuses on the left side of the spec tree. Give a choice node to do something cool with Soul Fire. Maybe add an interaction with Shadowburn. Let those cool spells that have existed since Vanilla have some interactions.

Damn, Mists of Pandaria is relevant and I'm watching Lore talk about Warcraft on youtube. Time is a circle lol. Jokes aside I do really like the direction they're going with for hero talents. I compared them almost to subclasses in D&D or other TTRPGs, or just RPGs in general. While there are some cracks in the system from either a lore side or design implementation side, they've mentioned (at Blizzcon I believe) that this was intended to be an evergreen system. So I do hope they continue refining it down the line and add more options, even maybe specific themes like every class getting a void or a light themed hero talent. Maybe a fel themed one, or "order magic" themed one for the titans. Or just some Warcraft class fantasys that have yet to be implemented. I know Blade Master is a much requested one. You've got Tidesages from Kul tiras etc. I'm looking forward to diving into Scalecommander for Evoker as my first one.
  • You look happier and less stressed since you’re no longer the CM at blizzard

Speaking on warlocks specifically, I hate the homogenization of the specs into just I SUMMON DEMONS, looking back at the days of WoD in the Auchindoun dungeon minibosses before Teron'gor showcase what i feel the actual class fantasy of the class is. Destro is a spec that constantly seeks more power, specializing in massive damage long casts, something like demonic sacrifice made perfect sense, you use that warlock theme of demons and manipulate it by a destro lock seeing a demon as a way to take more power. Burning embers as a resource was peak destro, as you could physically see in real time how much power that warlock was building up before unleashing it all with chaosbolts Demo is the spec that every warlock spec is leaning towards, and while i don't agree with losing metamorphosis and becoming the demon, this is where the demon spells belong. Destro and Afflic having their main 1-2 min cooldowns be infernal and darkglare (demons) just feels wrong compared to using spells like Dark soul in the past Affliction is the spec that manipulates the pure darkness into maledictions that rot targets away over time, this spec should be the flatline spec that doesnt have a lot of damage variation, you maintain your dots and in the best of times use malefic grasp, which was a filler spell that would cause your dots to tick more while you channeled it, instead of this rapture thing they're obsessed with now. the snapshot game was so much fun with soulswap inhale/exhale mechanic, trying to get the best version of your dots and extend it as long as you could.Removing dot snapshotting was a disaster for this spec, and the problem wasn't with the dots... it was with the items they made at the time. Of course adding a trinket that gives you 100% chance to crit for 4 seconds is going to be Heavily abused by snapshotting specs

I don't really get your comparison with Deathbringer DK. If you are going frost obliteration, I feel like Reaper's Mark as a button enhances the playstyle rather than consuming it. You press Reaper's Mark, then go into your Pillar of Frost, do your regular rotation of generating and consuming KM procs, then when it bursts you get an empowered obliterate to close out your pillar window. Obliteration was really lacking meaningful buttons to press outside of pillar of frost, and the new Frostscythe rework + reaper's mark are cool addtions. Not sure how it will impact breath. Seems pretty ok for blood as well, but I've thought less about that.

Love ur insight mate, can you please answear the following question in a next episode : Why do you think Blizz, doesnt want to make Hero talents cosmetic/class skin only? If Covenants in Shadowlands were like that, it wouldnt have resulted so poorly, with player power locked behind them and being forced to make an artificial choice. Im sure they are aware of this feedback since Shadowlads, so why add a similar hard stuck "option" again?

Blizzard cant make fun content anymore. Coming from someone who started in vanilla.
