The NFL can’t stop blitzing Jalen Hurts, and he took a major step back in 2023. The entire Eagles offense struggled in the later part of the 2023 season as teams blitzed Hurts repeatedly. But as football goes, it wasn’t just on the Quarterback, the receivers and offensive line struggled as well, and Brian Johnson’s offensive scheme did Hurts no favors. Why did the NFL blitz Hurts so much and why did the Eagles entire season go so wrong? This week’s episode uses the coaches all 22 to analyze Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts and how he handled being the NFL’s most blitzed quarterback.

Let’s not skip the fact that the OC and Sirianni made zero adjustments to help combat the blitz. I’ve watched tons of film where all receiver are just deep and outside the numbers. Zero in the middle, zero short check downs and zero hot routes
  • @moviestuffandso
The Eagles Offence also used the least amount of Pre Snap Motion, which just makes it harder to recognise how the Defence will play some of those routes
  • @PRAY_4ME
It’s worth mentioning that the eagles have not had hot reads in the normal sense since Doug Peterson was fired it was even an issue in the sb run but was masked by Shane’s genius and the staff thought they were hot shit and never tried to fix it

Definitely a coaching issue and a Hurts issue. They are going to need to put more practice time into the pre-snap. Hurts is still a very young QB, so he will learn and improve. I think we all forget he is as young as he is since he has been so successful so early in his career.

Who else has been binge watching these videos missing football season. I can't wait until the season comes back 💯
  • @PR3M3
I praying to the football gods that Jalen and Moore can clean this up this season, the league isn't going to stop until we prove we can beat the blitz constantly.
  • @BadlandBully
What this tells me is how bad the play calling and scheme was. The fact that they went 10-1 with this is astounding! Sheesh! So glad we got Kellen Moore now. Go Birds!
  • @dashthe6
I don't blame Jalen for this. The coaches had absolutely nothing schemed to beat the blitz. All they would do was throw a wr screen. Everyone in the stadium knew it was coming and yet they would keep doing it. It was so damn frustrating
  • @Scoots1994
Super athletic quarterbacks often come back to earth if they don't develop a better pocket game because the league adjusts to whatever their weakness is. Steve Young himself said he became a much better QB after he sprained his ankle and stopped thinking about running.

Great vid encapsulated what us as fans were saying all season the coaching cause a regression on each position group bc if the coaches arent on the same page the players arent either. It was kinda confirmed by smitty in his appearance on the green light pod where he said (on moore) “it should make it easier on jalen and easier on everyone so we can actually see whats going on instead of just go win your 1on1s”(around 11:16 mark in that video)

Excellent video. I can't even finish watching it. It is bringing back trauma I didn't know I was carrying. 😂 Last year was hard to watch, beginning to end. Even when the Eagles were 10-1, many of us had ulcers from watching this stuff. Terrible as it was, it was almost a relief when the wheels finally came off and the season disintegrated. Coaching was the worst of many issues last year, and I think we are in a much better spot this season. The defense was talent poor, and is at least improved. (And we now have a real DC.) Hurts will be the key. Last year should've been a year in which he continued to improve and grow, addressing the weaknesses in his game. Instead, the coaches failed him and he looked lost and frustrated. We hope he will be healthy, well coached, and improved this season.

This is the best explanation I have read or watched since the season ended. Everyone blames the defense (understandable)and makes excuses for the offense, since they were still top 10. They were an offensive mess, especially in the second half. Makes sense everyone started attacking their major weakness. The opposing DC must have been laughing seeing the lack of adjustments. Excellent video Alex. High, high quality presentation. Well done.
  • I absolutely love videos like this. Alex your whole channel is so good at breaking down just how intricate the NFL is. It really is a game of violent chess.
  • Thank you for demonstrating this. Love Hurts but he needs to improve, and most Philly fans ignore his flaws
  • Man, dude, your content is so good. It's so rare to find fantastic NFL content like this with the Youtuber keeping things clean. Great video again, Alex. Thanks so much!
  • Wow, great breakdown! Painful to watch but somehow therapeutic 😂 lord I hope Kellen can solve these issues, how HC kept his job after allowing all these issues is a mystery to me!
  • Great analysis Alex. Watching the eagles last season was frustrating with how much talent they had
  • @gerryreed5573
Wow Alex! You asked...I requested... and you delivered!!! Excellent video!
