Hitler had Europe on the ropes and came extremely close to a complete takeover, but in the end, a few bad military mistakes spread Germany's forces too thin across multiple major battlefronts. Could things have been different if Hitler never invaded Russia? Find out in today's epic new video that goes back to WWII and shows an alternate side of history.

One thing many histories of the Battle of Britain still get wrong - they count the losses of all types of German aircraft, but only count the losses of British fighters. Thus ignoring the losses of British bombers and reconnaissance aircraft during the same period. The work of the RAF to observe and bomb German airfields and ports in France, Belgium and the Netherlands is, even now, often completely forgotten. When the losses of British bombers and reconnaissance aircraft are factored in, total British aircraft losses in the Battle of Britain are a lot closer to total German aircraft losses.

Germany's best strategic choice wasn't to invade Britain; instead it was to invade the most valuable parts of the British Empire. Work with Italy to take Gibraltar via Spain. Put all your resources into the Mediterranean, and conquering Egypt becomes easy. The oil in Iraq and Arabia isn't far away. Once the Suez Canal is German and/or Italian, the entire Med is effectively an Axis lake. In order to access their empire in India and Burma, Britain must now sail around Africa, risking their ships against German UBoats. Then even if Britain isn't in German hands, it's only half as strong as it was before.

You neglected to mention one of the most pertinent advantages that led to Britain’s success in the sky despite the RAF being significantly weaker than the Luftwaffe: the radar.

The fact that neither the Germans or the British are willing to surrender made this war more like the best fight scene of the show
  • Remember the UK isn’t just England. Both Glasgow and Belfast were hit by German bombers too. There were air battles above the river Forth and naval skirmishes all around the North Sea coast

Forgot to mention the Poles who fought in the battle of britain. Legendary Polish 303 squadron was known to take out many German planes. One of the most
  • This is the type of history channel I binge watch while eating cheese at 3 AM
  • I actually tried this scenario in HOI4, the war ends by 1940! Although unrealistic, in that game, the US doesn't enter the war even when the Brits almost surrender.

In Hitler's book Mein Kamph he had always planned to attack the USSR in order to establish more territory for Germany's growing population who needed food and living space. He also believed that the English and the Germans were of the same race.

"High quality fighters from Mussolini " this video cant of been made when sober

The war on the SU was the main purpose of it all. The only scenario Germany would not attack, was if Stalin had attacked first. Either way, the clash between these 2 was inevitable. There´s no reasonable "what-if" scenario

It was Soviet union, not Russia, they had similar policy as Hitler's
  • One scenario I don't recall ever seeing: What if Germany invaded Russia FIRST (even before Poland)? That would mean no declaration of war by the UK and France, and both they and the US might be more hesitant to aid the Soviet Union.
  • There is a fault in this. Germany never had enough ships for complete blockade due to which when he really started Operation Sealion, he was unable to create complete naval superiority for invasion

One thing this video doesn't mention is that the Brits also had a wartime WMD program. One that, by the worst days of the Blitz, had come up with a plan to drop anthrax bombs on German cities. In our Timeline those bombs were never deployed, in part because the entry of the US into ww2 helpdd keep Britain from getting that desperate.. In this alternate one, who knows?
  • @owenc8831
Dont forget britain also had an empire at the time so it wasnt just britain vs the axis but more liken a quarter of the world vs the axis.
  • @mrhow94
Man thank you to the algorithm for making me watch all these vids the past week 🔥
  • The big problem with this scenario is the the US fueled the USSR with INSANE amounts of raw materials and material in general, in the actual conflict. The USSR would have been, let us say meager if not for that.
