It seems like becoming a session singer or backup dancer are the best sources of income for aspiring artists. I know a guy who was a session singer for like 7 years before becoming part of a successful band. Paula Abdul and Jennifer Lopez were backup singers before their break throughs.

I just thought I'd let you know, they make telescopic mic stands and foldable guitar stands that will fit in a backpack or duffle bag. I just bought them and it makes it WAY easier to carry around.
