One game. That’s all it takes to completely change the trajectory of a football career. For some, like Germany's 2014 World Cup hero Mario Götze, one game can propel you to superstardom. But there are others who aren't so lucky, and for fellow German Loris Karius, it took just one traumatic game for his promising career to crash and burn right before his eyes...

Karius was the witness that you, in fact, walk alone

He actually played well in the Carabao Cup final. Lad's confidence was clearly shot to pieces after his Liverpool nightmare. Goalkeeper is the most thankless position in the team, with every mistake punishable.

It was disgraceful that no Liverpool player or part of the management team went to him after the game to console him.

Truly unbelievable what happened to Karius. It was an unfortunate error but death threats are absolutely not it. I really hope we see a redemption arc for Karius

This is legitimately the first time that I'm hearing he was concussed during the Final. Funny how most neglected to include that vital fact when they scapegoated Karius.

His is maybe the most hurtful case of a footballer I've ever seen. It was so sad watching him pologizing to his fans in tears after the final, and seeing he is unable to get over it, as it still haunts him in every match he plays. I hope he can overcome that nightmare once an for all

"Germanys 2010 world cup hero mario götze?" It was in 2014...

as a liverpool fan i feel ashamed that so many people still blame him, if we win as a team we also lose as a team

The problem with GK position is that when GK makes a mistake it becomes a meme right away and 99% of cases reflects on the score sheet. Same with Karius, unluckily for him it happened twice in a biggest game in European football. Poor guy, wish him only the best
  • As a Newcastle fan the match against Arsenal was by far our worst this season, our defence was in shambles. I can say he played decently for the amount of pressure he was under, only making a mistake in the last goal where our hopes had already died.

as a Liverpool fan this was a hard watch. but I do feel sorry for him and i hope he succeeds.

He'll always have my respect for getting on with it and not publicly going through the what if moments. Kudos to him - hope he looks back with a smile.

He was elbowed by his left eye it knocked his vision out, anyone who has been hit hard enough near the eye knows how hard it is to play with. Same thing happened to me in a hockey game but with a knee, it wipes out your vision on that side, gives you double vision, you are so vulnerable. I didn't realise someone was pressing me until i saw them in my right eye, same thing would've happened with karius and the benzema goal. Then add on the effects of concussion, double vision from the collision then explains the bale mishandle. If you are still ignorant, try getting hit hard enough near the eye to knock your vision out, and play a game with that, you cant.

Karius is the only Liverpool player to walk alone! It was so sad what happened to him 😢. I am not a Liverpool fan but I felt for him

Yet another brilliant foul from Ramos that makes Real win a game, i like Real, but just letting Ramos continue his "playstyle" for years is a real shame everyone can tell that this guy is a real nightmare as a opponent, because he can make you ready for the hospital without getting a red card really impressive skill right there.

Hopefully he can get his career back on track at Newcastle. Man City legend Joe Hart went through this at Torino after his City exit but now seems settled at Celtic.
  • Man, I signed him in may manager career and then immediately benched him forever. I had no idea but now I feel bad 😂
  • @teamspeak9374
bro played the entire game concussed and everyone threw him under the bus. That game destroyed his confidence.
  • @YasuOsatoku
They keep saying: you'll never walk alone. Yet they let Karius walk alone. That's why I feel Liverpool has toxic fan base and club culture. Treat that never walk alone stuff as a propaganda.
