  • HER SECRET: She was enjoying herself, so she was creative! Today's gymnasts not only suffer but they are all about power, no art or gracefulness whatever. It was so enjoyable to watch Olga perform!!!
  • Olga Korbut should have gotten the first 10. I have seen no other bar routine that was as grateful and amazing as hers, even Nadia's.
  • Watching this after all these years was a joy, I was a child then but I remember the impact Olga had on the world. She was amazing, and all executed with that lightness, grace and that wonderful smile. Totally captivating
  • I was watching the Olympics when Olga performed all her flawless acts that day! My friends had their dads put balance beams and vaults in their yards in Hawaii! We will never forget what we witnessed that day and how it changed gymnastics for us and the world! Thank you Olga!!

The USSR gymnastics team was like a relentless machine back then, their athletes rarely showed the slightest emotion, woman gymnasts were generally older and bigger. Along came this bouncy little girl with a big smile who not only showed grace, but amazing athleticism. She captured the hearts of the world.
  • She will always be our darling. Her continence, pony tails and phenominal performance made her mark in gymnastics. But it is her smile that won our hearts. Much love to you Olga!

Let's be honest here. Olga's uneven bars was better than a majority of uneven bars today. How was that only a 9.8?!
  • Olga Korbut's uneven bars routine will always be the gold standard in my mind.
  • Olga's performances were dangerously stunning! It shocked the whole world.
  • Play Olga and Nadia's uneven bar routines back to back. It isn't even close. The degree of difficulty in Olga's presentation is so much higher. After her ground-breaking back flip she goes to the lower bar and fips back ward and blind to a dead-stop iron horse. Incredible strength and control. Nadia's routine in '76 was flawless, but the degree of difficulty was much lower. Try it sometime. You'll agree. Cheers.

Гордость Советской гимнастики!!!! Легендарная, бесстрашная уникальная Ольга Корбут!!!! ,
  • I find this story fascinating on many levels, but the one thing that truly stands out is how she is like a little phoenix. Her initial failure on the uneven bars lead to her breaking down, weeping, and in some way releasing an untold burden. When she rose free from these ashes, she was more than just a sparrow, her rebel's smile flashing, she was anew, beautiful, near perfect, and enthralling. What a darling.

I think her final uneven bars performance deserved a 10.

Olga Korbut had the best uneven bar routine i have ever seen.

This is infinitely better than modern-day gymnastics. The skill and grace on display here is breathtaking.

Olga Korbut and Nadia Komanichi are my two sports heroes. I remember vividly watching them on ABC’s Wide World Of Sports and being amazed by their skills. At 70,I watch these steps into the past and still am impressed.
  • Olga Korbut, la mejor gimnasta de todos los tiempos, revolucionando la gimnasia, gracias a ella, disfrutamos este deporte como ahora lo conocemos, Olga Korbut la reina de la gimnasia artística... no hay otra como ella...
  • Don't want to correct anyone, but she is from Grodno (Hrodna) not from Minsk, even if it doesn't change a thing. Grodno is my hometown and i am very proud of it and just want to put everything in its own place.
