A song from a time when everyone thought George W. Bush and Dick Cheney would be as bad as it would ever get.

Thank You Disturbed for speaking for me. I was in the Army during the Bush years and this is how I felt but couldn’t voice until I finally got out. Honestly I’d rather have Bush than Trump.

Although the intro samples George Bush, I see these lyrics referring to the system as a whole, with governments being a significant part of that. People idolise a corrupt system that is not looking out for their best interests and, as the song points out, is stealing from them. It's a religion and a cult that most people have no idea they are a part of, and anyone speaking out against it is vilified. David Draiman is clearly much more switched on than I realised, and I wish I'd listened to these lyrics more carefully when this album was first released.

If you had to play one tune to a mate to fully encompass Disturbed, this would be a great start

More relevant today than it was when this song was written.

100% accurate. People put their trust in politicians who can't keep the promises they make.

I've seen Disturbed countless times and almost every tour they've done and I must say after the Belive album I knew that they were going to do another cover song to put on the Ten Thousand Fists album which hearing the album and then seeing them 2 nights in a row in Portland, ME in a small venue with David sick because i must have been witnessing once in a lifetime because they sounded so good and it's when John joined the band. Both nights were peak preformces!

Just so you guys know when this album dropped, it ended up saving the life of a suicidal black kid in high school. The raw energy from this album got me in the gym, and out of my depression. Thanks
  • 2023 I’m 24 and I’ve been listening since this album dropped when I was in kindergarten, this band molded me into the man I am today.

Love the multitracking of David’s vocals at 3:47. So cool.
  • All my devotion betrayed I am no longer afraid I was too blinded to see How much you've stolen from me You want to know why I feel so horrified I let my innocence die You want to know why I can't be pacified You made me bury something I won't be sleeping tonight I only wanted a blessing made Now I've been labeled a renegade It seems so clear now what I must do You're no immortal, I won't let them Deify you They view you as the new messiah Deify you Renew belief in some demented man You want to know why It seems the passion has died We've all been living this lie You want to know why my Will's been fortified You made me hunger again Good luck sleeping tonight I only wanted a blessing made Now I've been labeled a renegade It seems so clear now what I must do You're no immortal, I won't let them Deify you They view you as the new messiah Deify you Renew belief in some demented man All my devotion betrayed I am no longer afraid All my devotion betrayed I am no longer afraid I was too blinded to see How much you've stolen from me I was too blinded to see All my devotion betrayed I am no longer afraid I was too blinded to see How much you've stolen from me I only wanted a blessing made Now I've been labeled a renegade It seems so clear now what I must do You're no immortal, I won't let them Deify you They view you as the new messiah Deify you Renew belief in some demented man I only wanted a blessing made Now I've been labeled a renegade It seems so clear now what I must do You're no immortal, I won't let them Deify you They view you as the new messiah Deify you Renew belief in some demented man I was too blinded to see How much you've stolen from me
  • This song is for me a reminder I am glad I came out of an abusive relationship. It helps heal the soul listening to this.
  • @KrazyKaiser
THESE LYRIC ARE MORE RELEVANT TO TODAY THAN THEY WERE IN 2005!!!
