Well the Redwynes are mentioned to be close kin to LYONEL Hightower —the son of Ormund— never to Alicent. Lyonel also has a brother that is a squire in the arbor and has a sister named bethany (the only other known bethany is bethany redwyne). So maybe Ormund or Hoberts wife is a redwyne?

Alicent "I am wearing the Florent Heraldry." "What are you talking about? The Florent Heraldry is a Fox on blue and white. There's no fox on your clothing." "Exactly. I am the fox."
  • The implications that Alicent is a Florent from her mother's side is really good. Haven't seen any channel talking about this.

Thats the kind of detail i love to see on adaptations. This kind of minimal, but substantial expansion is pretty damn nice to have.

I’m foaming at the mouth for this new season, I need it to be good and at least mostly accurate to fire and blood🙏🙏

Wasn't Sam Tarly's mother a Florent? Melessa I think. I always wondered why D&D never made a single mention in the show that Sam & Shireen were related even though they shared scenes together. It would have been so easy to have Shireen refer to Sam as "cousin" or something like that.

My eyes are tinted by the weasley Florents in GOT's timeline (ie. Stannis' wife, brother-in-law Ser Axel Florent).

THis was incredibly well founded and makes perfect sense. Great video

Allicent...this is good. Listen to how Rheanys tells Allicent that she is so obedient...and now LOOK at Rheanys favor. It's a crown of blue roses.

Aside from dropping these lores , i have a feeling the ASOIAF shows are cursed with having bad writers cause whenever these writers weather it'd be of GOT or HOTD deviate from the books they end up doing something that's stupid or ridiculous or half thought of like laenors escape, rhaenys bursting from the dragonpit along with the rest of ep9 and the wedding scene with Geoffrey and sir criston cause they can do so much better but end up doing stuff that gives s8 level energy and now they are changing alicent from being present at blood and cheese to sleeping with criston cole of all things

There's an interview with Olivia Cooke for tvline where she said something that doesn't make much sense for me. Her reunion with Gwayne will be sad because they're very different people on account of not being raised together. This to me comes across as senseless change for the sake of change, Otto went to court with his family, it makes no sense for his son to stay back in Oldtown. The article also incorrectly describes Alicent as queen regent, the only form of queen she has never been. By her marriage with Viserys she's queen consort and dowager queen, and as mother of Aegon II she's queen mother. But queen regent, she has never been. The closest I can see this if I squint very hard is in the show during the period of Visery's decline while Rhaenyra was in Dragonstone, but even then, she's merely part of the small council, and Visery's is never mentioned as having a regent, Otto as Hand being enough for governance.

Oh crap, in a fanfic I wrote I made Alicent's mother's name be Helena Florent who went mad and died of illness... I just thought it would have been a suitable House for a second of the Hightowers'.
  • oh. ok. I had really enjoyed the theory by the Order of the green hand, that it was Saera Targaryen (when she was unaccounted for in oldtown). oh well. but I get why house Florent makes sense. this gives a precedent to them trying to get a shot at getting close to the iron throne. and come to think of it, while more indirect,  it was more successful than with Celyse, Stannis' wife. The choice of name Alerie : ooooooooooooh. subtle. Florent claim : damn. so basically the oldtown masterplan combined with a Florent revenge.

I like the theory that Alicent is Saera Targaryen’s daughter. Saera was in Oldtown when she was 18. She would have been 20 when pregnant with Alicent. Thats why the old king sometimes mistook Alicent for Saera Also Alicent didnt have problems giving birth to her children (like Saera) while Aemma did, like her mother Daella I guess Saera left Otto and Alerie raised Alicent

Ok that's weird...I've never read that before like that. How obituaries used to be phrased. Long/extended illness is usually addiction related. No..that's so weird!!! Did Allicent's mom actually really kill herself cause lowkey I always thought she did. Or she left him. Wtf that is so weird that something is phrased that way regarding her mom.

I wonder if this will be used to explain the Tyrell situation further in the show. Maybe they feel like too weak with a child lord to fully support the Blacks, but they won’t help the Greens in any way, like refusing to send their army to help Aegon against the North (like they do in the book). Because they worry about their claim to Highgarden if they put a Folrent grandson on the throne
  • @walkerlamebrain
Oh that's why in S1 there was a weird tension some viewers sensed between teenage Alicent & Rhaenyra, makes sense now
  • @markgross6006
This may be a bit of speculation, but it is my opinion, based on a few offhand comments (primarily from Margary Tyrell), that Aegon the Conqueror may have exercised the Right of First Night with Harlan Tyrell's new bride (possibly at her initiation) and sired a bastard with her after the surrender of Highgarden, who he later legitimized as Theo Tyrell. Plug that theory into everything else we know about House Tyrell and it explains a lot. It may have even been Olenna Redwyne's inspiration for seducing Luthor Tyrell.
