How To TUNE Your Guitar

Published 2024-08-01
This video covers the basic principles of how to tune a guitar. The video handles this in two ways. First we go through it just matching my strings. Second we go through the traditional method of tuning. Being able to match the pitch of each string I play on my guitar (or tuning using your guitar with the traditional method) with your voice, and in your mind, is necessary to get your guitar in tune. You may want to pause the video after I play each string to give you more time to pluck the string and move the tuning knob up or down as needed. After I play each string, you need to remember the pitch in your mind, play the string on your guitar, and adjust the pitch up or down to match the note I played.

  • I play a 12-string guitar. After many years of struggling I found the best way to tune it. I take the one string that's out of tune and tune the other eleven to it.
