#1 Shot To Beat Bangers Once And For All

Published 2023-02-20
So here’s the thing with bangers…there’s the thing we know about them because it’s so obvious and then there’s the thing we often overlook.

And it’s these two things together that we’re going to use against them to ultimately beat them.

The obvious thing is, of course, that they just come at you with pace, pace and more pace no matter what.

They have a high contact… they hit hard, they have a low, contact… they hit hard. They’re on the run…they hit hard, they’re in the transition zone,… they hit hard.

All they care to do is just whack the heck out of the ball. That’s the most glaringly obvious thing we know about them.

But the more overlooked thing that they also do, is that that they prefer to stay back in the court so that their hard hit shots have space to clear the net and still land in.

If they’re too close to the net and have to hit in a trajectory that is much more vertical to clear it, then those hard hit shots are often headed into the net or are sailing out.

Their margin for error is much lower the closer they get to the net and as a result they tend to stay back.

As mentioned, this is usually less obvious to people but it’s an important point to keep in mind because it will help us beat them.

So they’re going to be back and we’re going to GET UP to cut off their shots and use their own power against them.

This is all much more easily understood if you see it in action so we broke it all down in a video.

If you struggle against opponents that have only one speed and that speed is “hard on everything” a.k.a bangers… this is how you’re going to be them once and for all. Check out the video.

You are so kind to post this video! THANK YOU! I’m only a 2.5 and some days I could be a solid 3 but most days I’m not so good and miss too many shots. When I do hit a great shot I usually don’t even know how I did it or it was pure luck. I am older (72) and get discouraged. But the game is so fun, I don’t want to give up. I used to be quite athletic and still active. Not ready for a rocking chair! Lol. Thanks again. It here is a club here with a wall and I’ll keep on trying!

Wanted to share that racquetball courts work great for wall drills. I don’t have any good places for wall drills close by but the closest YMCA has rarely used racquetball courts. Best part is the weather can’t stop me from practicing. I also carry white electrical tape to put at net height, and easy to remove.

I’ve always done wall drills, but never thought of these great variations. Thanks so much for a fantastic video.

I've been incoporating a lot of "garage ball practice" and have noted definite improvement in my game. Thanks for these drills!

Awesome drills to practice! Thank you so much, I will integrate them on my wall practices session!
  • Great video. Developing fast hands and more confidence against bangers takes practice as many beginners are scared of getting hit in the face.

Thank you this video. I’ve got the perfect place for practicing by myself. Looking forward to using these drills. Thank you Lana and Nicole for the drills.

You are a very clear speaker and trainer. Thanks.
  • Go Lana go!! Excellent wall drills. I am fortunate to have a drill partner and use a ball machine for practice. Those drills are so innovative. Thanks, Nicole. Excellent demonstration and advice.

That was an outstanding set of drills! I do some of them but definitely not as formal. Lada really did an outstanding demonstration.
