Rambo's meltdown and seeking comfort like a child from Col.Trautman by clinging to him is some of the best acting I've ever seen.
  • @Broon_eye
His PTSD meltdown at the end is the most accurate part of any war movie I have ever seen.

Stallone should have won the Oscar for his portrayal of Rambo. Watching it 40 years after I first saw it back in 1982, it is better than I remember it, and Stallone's acting is superb. They just don't make movies like that anymore.
  • @anto-mac
Stalones acting in this is top notch especially that last scene
  • My oldest brother served in Vietnam "Army" Green Beret Special Forces, shot 3 times, cut, stabbed, & just plain tortured, I can say without a doubt the brother that went to Vietnam isn't the same brother that came back. He recently passed away in 2020 from complications from agent orange.
  • I can’t believe some people say Stallone’s acting is limited to action roles. There’s quite a lot of drama in this film mixed with the action, and he kills it. Where did he draw those emotions from in that last scene with Richard Crenna?
  • This movie has stuck with me for over 40 years now, since I saw it in 1982! The story, the action, the characters were all superbly acted. This movie stands the test of time!

Definitely the best of the Rambo movies for sure.

Me and a friend went to see this when it came out in 1982. The theater was packed and when everybody was exiting the theater it was amazing to hear the reactions. Nobody expected it to be that good but it was.

I'm too young to have seen it originally but it's clearly a powerful film. What those Vets went through is atrocious.
  • @Armatige
The whole movie was just stuffing for that last bit with John and Trapman. "I wanna go home Johnny. I wanna drive my Chevy" " You can't coz I can't find your legs." That was the best bit of acting out of his whole time as a film star. Frigging amazing.
  • Seen this in the movies with my father in 1982 I was 11 and already a rocky and rambo fanatic and I still am to this very day

Stalone in his greatest role of a lifetime

That last scene was so powerful. A man capable of so much but struggling so hard mentally. It really doesn't get the appreciation it deserves. This one actually made you think and empathize instead of the typical action movie stereotypes.
  • "there wouldn't be any trouble if it weren't for that king shit cop...all I wanted was something to eat..." 7:13
  • 4:41 Only Richard Crenna could deliver Sam Troutman's lines with such perfection. "I don't think you understand: I didn't come here to Rescue Rambo from you..."
  • Probably ahead of its time. Not too many people knew about PTSD back then,
