I Asked Strangers to let me Eat in their House

Published 2021-09-12
I went to strangers houses and asked if they could invite me into their home to eat on the 3rd day of my social media detox challenge.
I've been living in Ukraine for about eight years and people often told me that Ukrainians in the western part of Ukraine are more open and kind. So, I decided to put this to test on the third day of my social media detox challenge when I arrived in a Carpathian town called Verkhovina.
I went around the neighborhood knocking and asking strangers if I could eat dinner with them in their homes and try their local cuisines.

Thanks to the hospitality of Ivan and Olga. They rent out guest houses, so if you're in Verkhovina please rent their homes. Let's support this kind couple.
The address to their guest house is - Carpathy street 10 (Карпатська 10).

Well, my doubts are dispelled. My Grandmother comes from Western Ukraine, she always tried to feed a hungry or destitute person, as a little boy I did not understand these actions of her (later I learned that she survived the Holodomor in 1932-1933, which was arranged by the Soviet government for Ukrainians) .Most Ukrainians are not used to such moments when a stranger knocks on the door and asks for food. I'm glad you managed to find good people. I even shed a few tears, thanks for these emotions.
