A very basic introduction of the complete rowing stroke for beginners and junior rowers. There are a lot of videos on youtube from non rowing backgrounds that do not effectively teach how to use an ergometer and the proper rowing sequence. This is one yet basic interpretation of how to row properly and effectively. This video features an actual rowing athlete from the 2016 Vic 8

00:36 -3:55 - Defining The Finish & The Catch
4:15- 4:58 - Defining The Drive & The Recovery
5:15- 10:42- The Rowing Sequence (Arms, Bodies, Legs)

Filmed in Melbourne, Australia
Rower: Lachie May

I’ve watched dozens of videos on proper rowing technique. This is absolutely the best.
  • I'm not sure if this was intentional - but the graphics on his suit help illustrate the proper angles throughout the exercise! bravo

Great Video ! Drive = legs , body , arms Recovery = arms , body , legsVery easy to remember . Just started rowing a week ago in the gym , wasn't sure ; actually was pretty sure I wasn't doing it correctly. This helped greatly! Iam repeating the chant legs body arms , arms body legs as I row . Thanx !!

  • Really great video, easily the best I've watched on Form training. And I loved Lachlan's smile and wave at the end.
  • This is such a great video. The voice is really soothing and helped my technique because I’m really short. A clear balance of infomercial and entertainment.
  • Grateful for this video! Corrected so many things off with my form that I wasn’t catching, will save and watch over and over until I get it right and increase my proficiency. Thank you!!

A split screen showing the bad position side by side with the correct position would be awesome.
