There should be a series where he sees products that seemed to have no potential but were absolutely game changing
  • “Why take diet pills when you can enjoy ayds” had me cracked up đŸ˜‚â€
  • “Ow ow ow ow ow He just ate that” this sentence is so funny😂 the most funniest parts are when the cat intervenes in the video â€đŸˆ

I think Meta will be on a list like this eventually. Imagine trying to get your mostly older user base to use VR for things they can already do more efficiently.

I'm surprised that the Microsoft Teams app glitch that prevented people from calling emergency services wasn't mentioned. It was so bad that Google needed to email people who had the bugged version of the app to ask them to update
  • I think yik yak's true downfall was the way they chose to handle the bullying and hate speech. It completely ruined the usability of the app and people had genuinely good ideas of ways to fix it but they did the opposite

Love this series! Too bad you didn’t get the 10 million this year, Arun! Love your content, keep at it Edit: We did it! Let’s go!

Skype might have died in the consumer market, but it was rolled into Lync which evolved into Teams. So not really a fail but a market pivot.

To me skype was more like used for calling people instead of calling on phone. Zoom is in different place, i used it because remote teaching was on zoom. Discord is what took the place of skype for me but it also does more.

The amount of hard work that Arun and his team put into ONE single video is just ridiculous... and I love it. Each time Arun uploads is banger after banger, before we know it he's gonna be making videos on mars with 2030 technology.

Skype didn't really die, and they didn't become complacent. Microsoft got so far ahead in development with Skype that they felt it wasn't the same app anymore. So they redesigned the UI and renamed it Teams. Because if its tight integration with Microsoft's other product, Teams became more business focused and is now the preferred communication app for businesses around the world. Why use give apps for email, instant messaging and calls, when you could use one seamlessly integrated office package?

So, the cuecat (#19) was awesome for it's time. It let you quickly read barcodes and get them into a computer for like super cheap. It was super easy to just code it to pull raw data into Acess or Excel (remember folks this was before RSS), you could also run the data (barcodes) through some IRC and forums (depending on what you needed) to actually populate your database/spreadsheet. Was is hugely popular among consumers? No . . . was it a failure? No, I went through 3 of them, and knew lots of other engineering/physics/Comp Sci folks that actually bought as many of them as we could get our hands on. And honestly, they worked better (with custom software) at scanning barcodes than your phones camera does right now.
