You may be wondering how do I travel the world? Everything that you see has been fully funded by myself and the help of my supportive viewers. To be honest I hardly make any huge profits from these videos and my patreon is still growing. I simply enjoy documenting these incredible places and I love that I can bring you along with me. I've gotten a lot of people wanting to support my adventures though and I've created a Patreon account that gives extra bonus content. You can do so with the links below :)

Support is much appreciated and goes towards making more + better content! :)

  • Am I the only one that wants to clean the mansion so bad? Like literally cleaning it like sweeping and mopping and dusting.
  • Well seems like Japanese people definitely are more respectful to abandon homes which is nice.
  • @neferazure
Genshiro Kawamoto, the guy who owns these properties, is currently serving a 4yr prison sentence for tax evasion. So no, there is no "love story" or anything behind his "disappearance". I decided to do some personal digging of my own and found some Japanese articles that explain more in depth and aren't giving these romanticized false accounts of what happened. Most of the real estate he purchased was between the 1960s and 1980s. The reason many of them were left abandoned is because by today's standard they are not up to code for fire/earthquake protection. He owns multiple properties in Japan under the alias Marugen. He also owns multiple properties in Hawaii and California. He earned a bad reputation with how he would treat his tenants, giving them super short notice to vacate a property just so he could sell the property, not because they were behind on payments or for any other reason. Very cold and calculated. Basically he used to treat peoples' homes like they were handbags and just sell them at a moment's notice to try to make a profit. Only cool thing he ever did was opening up some of the mansions he owned in Hawaii to Native Hawaiian homeless families and charging super low rent like $150-$200/ month. But even most of those properties have been vacated and left to ruin since at least 2012-2013 because that's when he was finally arrested for tax evasion. He was someone who insisted on not paying taxes and made very public statements about not doing so. So no, he didn't leave because he lost any loved one (his parents used to own a high end kimono shop, but when they passed he basically got rid of it), he is currently in prison but should be getting out soon since his 4yr sentence should finishing up. He was sentenced to 4yrs plus some very hefty fines/restitutions as of 2018. He did try to appeal the sentence in the beginning of 2020, but the sentence was upheld. He also tried again in 2021 and got the same result. Should be getting out this year though since his sentence started from 2018 and it is now 2022. He's born in 1932, going on 90yrs old. Has never married and has no children in his entire life, by choice. He openly stated he has no desire to ever raise an heir to his millions (he's a millionaire, not a billionaire), no desire for women or a wife (his closest acquaintances have asked him and those were his answers) and said he's cool with his assets being requisitioned by the government whenever he passes away. By all accounts he seems very greedy in a lot of ways. Like I said, only cool thing he has ever seemingly done was renting some of his Hawaii mansions for what would be pennies compared to what they were actually worth, but those went to complete crap once he got arrested and they have also since gone to ruin since he is not free to properly care for and maintain the homes. Also, if you want to know more about his abandoned properties (there are MANY of them, way more than what's in this video), look under his alias, Marugen. That's the name he used to purchase the properties under. Hotels, homes, rentals, office buildings, whatever. They were called the Marugen properties. He never officially made it a business name, interestingly enough.

This guy was rich on another level of rich. I can’t even begin to figure out how much all that cost 🤯
  • if this home was in america, it would have been looted a long time ago
  • I love how respectful the Japanese culture is that they don't ransack abandoned properties.
  • @jb8770
This just goes to show that no matter the cost whether a thousand, million or a billion dollar house its still is nothing but 4 walls without the people u love to make it a home.
  • Going through this house without not having temptation to take up some of the statues is so truly hard lol 💀 but I see lots of comments with great knowledge saying art holds wealth and age and honestly if we’re honest it does. No matter how old or how long, art holds a very high significant value!!
  • @royward4045
Money can’t buy happiness, but I’m not happy without money. 😅
  • @rahmakacem2209
" You can lose everything in a second , you won't take anything with you when you die " If you ever become rich , consider changing people's lives , donating , helping poor families , giving an education to children who can't afford to go to school , mansions and marble statues won't make you happy but giving to others will .

18:38 The cost of that curio cabinet is upwards of $10,000 with its curved glass features- could be a much as $100,000 depending on the maker of the woodwork
  • @Rock-mo3ry
I’ve never appreciated this type of decoration but, now I think I understand. Those were the most beautiful buildings I’ve ever seen.
  • I was watching this without sound at first and this place made me feel so sad... i’m not surprised to hear he was depressed. This home has no heart or warmth, anyone else feel the same?
  • Could you imagine surfing YouTube and come across this video and being like “Oh shit, that’s my house!” N being hella upset having to see what your home and belongings look like now.
  • You are so sweet! Despite the man's greed, etc.; you show nothing but kindness as you show us the goods!
  • You guys are the best, I absolutely love what you share, this home was unnnnnnnnbelievable. Thank you for the wise words of materials vs family , health, friendships and the joy of being around the people you love the most. We really are here for a short term and we cannot take anything with us. Yes I also hope he has learnt his lesson but all things have consequences, so I pray he find peace of mind.
  • @tofusius27
Even though it's abandoned, I think it's still decent enough to film a music video there.
  • When you were looking out & said " just imagine this is what he saw every day". Yeah, it was but he saw it by himself. Money doesn't buy happiness just material things. I actually feel sorry for the guy.
