Nice setup, you have a good combo. The 891 is a great unit for portable and mobile.
  • QRP! With my 3W Venus SW3B and 3.0ah 9v Bioenno I’ve made 2000+ QSOs in the past 2 years. I can work 14-15 hours combined on multiple SOTA activations over a long weekend. I also have a 4.5ah 12v that will run my FT818 longer than I can. Bioenno makes a great battery.

Good video thanks Rob. I’m looking at seeing if I can get one of these batteries shipped over here

I bought the 20ah version to go with my 891 and portable setup. Good video.
  • Just a little update! I finally was able to purchase a Bioenno battery from Hamsource. I got the BLF-12045 12 volt 4.5 a/h battery that they were having a special on. This should be adequate for me since I am only using an FT-817ND radio for my portable operations. According to the chart, it should give me close to 10 hours, of course that depends on the amount of transmitting versus receive. Just wanting to again thank you for your review of your battery and the link for Hamsource. Juddie WD8WV
  • I would love to have one of those batteries, but I guess for now I will stick with the sealed lead acid! I know they are expensive batteries and right now since it is hunting season, most of my time and spare money is going into that! Hobbies tend to take a back seat when it is hunting season for me. But I will check into one of those for sure!! Thanks for sharing!! Juddie WD8WV

Thanks for the video. I'm late to the party here but I just bought the same battery to use portable and possibly even in my shack instead of a power supply. 73
  • I enjoyed the video and the Yaesu ft-891 is very nice compact radio and does not draw a lot of power from your battery. Please keep making the videos.73 AE4OY WILLIAM EM-81UF

I have 2 lifePO4 12v 8Ah I bought the first of this month. I bought a charge you have to set type of battery number of cells, voltage, etc. I tried to see the charger work. When I hook either battery up and try to start the charge I get a cell warning on both and no charge. My other charger gives me a cell balance problem. What do you think? I just got one of the Miady 20ah batteries today. The charger is at my office so haven’t had a chance to try it with either charger.

I have just received the 20ah Bioenno LifePo4 battery along with the LifePo4, 14.6v battery charger (small black brick type like yours). My question is while using the supplied battery charger from Bioenno the power brick itself gets very hot to the touch. I have never seen one get this hot. Are you experiencing the same thing with your charger? Thanks, 73 De, Phil-KF4RAF.

I’m about to buy this battery for my Yaesu FTM200 it draws 11amps at 50 watts will this battery be enough?
  • Newbie here, Just being extra cautious. Do I just hook the Positive and Negative to the battery if it doesn't have anderson power poles? Thanks in advance, KO4HPC. Just a Tech. :)

I think the Amp hour rating are inflated like hard drive space. I have the 20Amp Bioenno and only get 13Amp hours out till it drops to 10.5 volts. Are you getting the full 15 from yours?
