The one question everybody asks about this song is Harrison's role in it. On the original recording Harrison is listed as rhythm guitar. But as far as I can tell he played the break. The sound of his Rickenbacher is unmistakable, and none of Clapton's live performances ever duplicate that sound. I saw Clapton in 75 at the Cow Palace, and Harrison actually came out and played his part of the song. Unbelievable. The crowd was blown away.

I'll never get tired of watching Clapton playing. Talented lyrics by my favorite Beatle the late George Harrison

Badge will aways be my #1 classic rock song. Just an amazing song. Wife asks what do the lyrics mean? Don't know. You'll have to ask Ringo when he was blabbing out loud during great guitar play while being drunk/high. Can you imagine being a fly on the the wall with Clapton, Harrison, & Ringo while writing this epic tune. They were partying & running out a classic. Just F'ing amazing song.

Forever grateful for my musical education from the Old Grey Whistle Test.
-
And let us not forget the fantastic bass player of this beautiful band, Mr Carl Radle R.I.P
-
That signature Harrison cascading riff.... the perfect backdrop for the the EC solo.
-
George’s guitar break makes this song extra special. Love ya George !

I'm so glad that my (future )parents were teenagers in the 1970s, so that my genes could inherit a big appreciation of that decade's type of music whenever I discover it, such as this song .
-
Rest in peace, George Harrison.

Heard this live in 2022 at MSG and was blown away. Didn’t even realize how much greater this song could get after listening to the album version. Thank You George for your contributions !
-
What i wouldn't give to go back to the 1970s.

One of the greatest Singer-Songwriters Guitarists ever. Where is my Badge?
-
Yvonne Elliman at Backing Vocals 🤯
-
Classic 70's Clapton....Blackie and Music Man amps !
-
That woman in the background is the singer Yvonne Elliman who sings "if I can't have you". Rock on! 🤘😎🤘

Back in those days the cameraman always used to focus on Eric when a solo was going on; as happened here during the second solo initially. The second solo was actually George Terry who was an amazing guitarist. In this concert he also took the solo when Yvonne Elliman did "Can't Find My Way Home". Still one of my favourite concerts of all time. The full Old Grey Whistle Test concert is on YT.
