Will humankind ever produce a society that when blessed with abundance, does not fritter it away.? Qatar, at the time this propaganda video was made, seems a good example of 'one step forward, one step back. The steps forward are: some imaginative architecture, preservation of the old market and historic sites; the education of women, and saving the oryx. The steps back are the dreadful level of waste, and conspicuous consumption. Imagine the carbon footprint from energy expended on desalination and air conditioning. Yet, these expensive green areas are designed by a robot who knows only five kinds of plants. Like trying to write a poem with a vocabulary of five words. Another robot wields a whip operated by remote control, used on a kindly, herd animal that is forced to run in isolation from its herd !! If it is not run to death, it will die of insanity. That's right up there with giving elephants amphetamines and working them to death.
