Aigis being the picture for etrian odyssey is just funny
  • I think it should've also been mentioned that Dragon Quest (1986) came before Final Fantasy (1987). It should also be noted that DQ kickstarted the Turn-based JRPG genre we know today, paving the way for the creation of all the other turn-based console JRPGs that spawned due to it's success (Final Fantasy, Phantasy Star, Mother/EarthBound, and so on).

I laughed hard at the "Pikachu, Charizard" part lol
  • @Bargate
I know you covered it very shortly in the video but not having a picture for Pokémon in the thumbnail for a JRPG video is crazy
  • No introduction just straight into it. I love it. Very well done video
  • @Bacalao.
Bruh, you all keep hating on the man. He made a very good video as an introduction for new Jrpg players. No vets like you. Some flaws but nicely done man. Hope you achieve the 20k, greetings from Argentina!
  • Yeah Suikoden series feels like a huge omission from this list, otherwise you got most of the popular jrpgs out there.
  • @Kora_exe
Shin megami tensei really deserves more respect guys
  • @raed42
If you made part 2 one day. Don’t forget to add Wild arms series 🤠

The tales series just hits different imo…..Symphonia was a great introduction for me. It was like “super smash bros: the RPG“ for me growing up.

4:54 The Velvet Room is based on the Cathedral of Shadows from the mainline SMT games, which itself is based on the Heretic Mansion from the first two Megami Tensei games (though the SNES remake of them replaced the demon who ran the mansion with Mido, the minister who runs the cathedral in the numbered SMT games and the first Majin Tensei game). Although SMTV instead has the World of Shadows and Majin Tensei II instead has the REMIX Station.
  • I’d say most Fire Emblem games are not standalone, but most can be played this way. Just do not play (New) Mystery or Radiant Dawn first (and Thracia spoils some of Genealogy). That Legend of Heroes explanation felt very safe which is fair lmao I’m surprised the gameplay wasn’t mentioned? Not only does the world expand each game, but technology is constantly progressing and this is shown best through the gameplay changes every new game.
