When I was a kid we were poor and I had never seen real Swiss cheese, only on Tom & Jerry. I asked my dad why we didn't eat Swiss cheese. He told me that Velveeta was made from the parts of the Swiss cheese where the holes had been, so it was just as good.

Love this! When I was a kid I called Swiss cheese "mouse cheese." I thought the holes were from mice eating the cheese.

That cheesecake unmolding from its pan was soooooo satisfying to watch. 😍 Also, if you wanted to go completely bonkers and go down the molecular gastronomy rabbit hole, I'm imagining maybe some kind of edible dissolving balloon full of air, done in varying small sizes, that could be poked down into the cheesecake batter before it goes into the fridge. They might hold open long enough to create the spherical holes inside the cake while it chills, but soften enough to not be perceptible once it's ready to be eaten. Hmm… maybe I need a kitchen lab coat like Emmy's! 😂

My friend's mom told me how when she was little she liked macaroni with just milk, so her mother would set some aside for her when she made mac and cheese. One night she had her bowl and saw little red bugs in it. She told her mother there was bugs in it, and her mom said there was not. Her dad leaned over and a quietly said that they were the factory workers that tunneled through the noodles to make them hollow. So she went ahead and ate it. She asked her mom for a second bowl. Her mom got up to get it, finally saw the bugs and shrieked. Told her she couldn't eat it because it had bugs in it.
