Tom, you missed your calling, you should be a history professor. Maybe the History channel will give you your own show. 😉

Hey Tony, I just wanted to share a message of gratitude. In a comment I shared months ago, I mentioned that my family and I were srt to visit NYC in June, We , I especially (being visually disabled), have had a lot of anxiety over visiting cities in general but NYC was bringing us a LOT of anxiety. Yet, after watching many of your videos, we felt much closer. We only had a day to visit, which, as you know, is not nearly enough, and spent most of our time at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Once we made it back to Lower Manhattan, we explored as much as we could with the time we had. Long story short, we had an amazing time and a HUGE part of it was thanks to your videos. No words can truly capture my gratitude. We went from dreading NYC, to being excited to loving it and now we can't wait to go back. You are a gift to NY my friend. Thank you and much love to you <3

There are so many amazing old structures in NYC, but for some reason it blows my frickin mind that a wrought iron fence has been there since before 1776.

These videos were much of my research prior to our first Manhattan visit this past spring, and we’re coming back this fall to explore the other Burroughs! Great job man.
  • Anyone who’s never seen him do standup comedy; you’re missing out!!! Had a blast tonight, brother!!!

Island at the Center of the World is a sick book on this subject.

I often wonder if the Dutch considered "Mannahatta" at that stage being a passing, temporarily thing too and didn't take the "buying" of it very serious. It was just a trading colony after all, that were founded and abandoned all over the world all of the time. Besides the beaver pelts there was not much of trade interest and not many colonists would live there. The Dutch West India company wasn't very interested and involved either. The deeper insight of the possibilities of the place came later (with people like Adriaan van der Donck).
  • You need to watch this several times to appreciate its brilliance. There are so many quotable lines. This man is a national treasure of comedy and history.
  • Wow! Who knew old George wrote, "I love Martha," in his bible? This was fun. It is a great way to get people to actually listen to a history lesson. I'm not sure some of the jokes and language would be allowed in schools, but I bet the kids would love it and remember it, too!
  • dude i’ve been binging all of these for my upcoming trip to NYC. i love it. thank you
  • THANK YOU for the entertaining history lesson. I can't wait to be back in NYC to check out these sites again now that I know their history. I'm happy you are making History interesting in our world where everything moves so fast. Nice to know where we come from. Thank you!!

It was good meeting you the other day on the 4 Train in the morning while you were taking your pet to the Vet. Keep up the good work bro! Love your NYC History videos!
  • You should go up and down the northeast corridor and do videos about Boston, Philly, Baltimore, DC. I think your fans would like that kind of similar variety. Plus a vacation as a business expense.

Love you Professor Tom, I come to your videos for all my fun history lessons, and tell a lot of people about you. Going to NY soon, can't wait to visit the places that I have learned from you.🙂

Tom, you are talented beyond belief,. If life was fair, you would be running the history channel.
