"I worry that the Conservatives are going to dive into some form of existential crisis."

Restoring public trust over ideological infighting should be the road ahead for the Tories, argues Conservative Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen.

"How did we lose trust?" says Boris Johnson superfan. Absolute mystery.
  • Houchen should be in jail. Selling off to his mates at Ā£1 per acre, then renting it back at a profit is corruption.

You went wrong when you stopped doing what the people want.

It takes self-awareness and introspection to have an existential crisis. The Tories have neither.

Selling public land to your mates for a Ā£ an acre played its part!

I'm no expert, but appointing a lettuce to run the economy just did not make any sense to me. A cucumber would have been a far wiser choice in my opinion. But i'm no expert.

You had like 5 prime ministers. You did not do what you said your were going to do. People do not like hypocrites.
  • Hoping that Labour launch a proper enquiry into Teesport/Houchen, unlike the one carried out by Michael Goveā€™s department..
  • Dear me. Houchen in denial about why the Tories lost the election. Iā€™ll start with the hopeless campaign, which compared to Labourā€™s vote efficiency maximisation, was a disaster. And the rise of the far right in Reform, was in no small part to the Tories using immigration as a culture war, instead of trying to fix it properly.
  • The fact the Tories donā€™t realise whyā€¦.lolā€¦.because they kept lying about immigration.

People didn't flock to Labour like in 97 because its current leader is not a narcissistic showman. When things have got as bad as they are, all it takes is someone who seems competent and interested in how the population actually lives.

The Tories delivered on Brexit, which had every horrible aftereffect every economist said it would.

Corruption at the Tees freeport , the pollution it caused ,the mass shell fish die -off ,coverup and the lies didn't help .

I was happy to listen/watch until he said the party should not have got rid of boris, now I just can't take him seriously as boris was a symptom of the party's inner rottenness!

    Bye bye Tories šŸ˜‚šŸ˜…šŸ˜‚

I bet he's now soiling himself that Labour will do some investigating into his dealings
