One thing to keep in mind about NYC compared to other US cities -- New Yorkers are busy hustlin' all the time because the city is so expensive. Everyone is also raised to mind their own business. This is why if you mind your business and don't bother anyone, you really will be ignored in nearly any neighborhood you go in. Meanwhile, people in poorer, slower cities like Detroit or St Louis -- they're bored!!! and there aren't that many people. THEY WILL FUCK WITH YOU

Even if the streets were empty, and nobody was out, you'll know you're in the hood because of the LED strip lights in the windows of the businesses.

I was a Bronx kid and so glad I got out. The kids of these neighborhoods do not have the support to become better people in society but instead are so influenced by the worst of their culture that they all have lost the meaning of their culture. People now associate their culture with crimes and not what the generations of the past worked so hard to build, Black kids need more structure and education. The fact is if the Black communities does not unanimously work hard to abolish these acts then this cycle will forever continue, no one wants to raise a family like this. No one wants to live like this, it's bad enough to not receive support from the government so why make your own hood a war zone? I will never take my child back to The Bronx, I want the best for the next generation. More education means they have more of an opportunity to change this country.

Statistically the worst hoods have been Brownsville and East New York for a minute now. Harlem ain't really as bad as it was back in the day aside from the East Harlem section. Williamsbridge, Bushwick and Coney Island are really bad too.
  • Lived in NY for 22 years and South Bronx is the only place I’ve never put boots to ground on. Either driving through or you won’t catch me over there. Walked through the other four locations many times with no issues. Also, East New York should definitely be on this list as well.

People will be watching these videos 100 years from now to see what life was like in these places now.

Most of the violence is in heavily concentrated in particular parts of the city and among gangs, drug dealers). If you're not involved in those activities and not going to areas you'd have no reason to go to, then NYC is as safe as any big city. You don't tell a tourist to go to Brownsville Brooklyn they would be traveling in places like Times Square or other touristy areas downtown etc.. The areas you named the only people who should be there are people who live/work there or have family there only. Beyond that, situational awareness will get you a long way, use common sense, be aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine.
  • Great compilation and showing us how things really are inside NY's burrows. Wow, there are people everywhere! 😲 I bet it's like that 24\7. I love it! 👍Seems like everybody knows each other. That said, I have never seen so many double-parked cars in my life. LOL. That's how it used to be in Chicago, but nowadays, everybody would be shot up. You cannot even sit in a car passed midnight, go to the gas station, etc. Sad.

As a person who been to all the boroughs many times I say south bronx is #1..Brownsville and East New York follow right behind.

Honestly as someone who’s lived in NY their whole life I don’t think queens even belongs in a top 5 list. Yea far rock and Jamaica are rough but statistically East NY and oceanhill/bedstuy should be there before any queens neighborhood and i think Harlem should’ve specifically been listed as east harlem
  • @curtflirt2
Charlie, you visit NYC alot and you know a lot. I think this gotta be like a top 20 or 30 if you Want to include places like Far Rock on here. A top 5 is too short to include Far Rock on it.
  • @r.d.9399
Take Harlem off the list. Add East New York to the number one spot
