  • My parents and I found ourselves in Spearfish one evening on our way to Minnesota in 1954 . Dad stopped at a gas station to ask where we could find a hotel or Inn to spend the night . A man got up and came to our car and told us there weren’t any rooms in town but we could follow him home and put us up there ! In the morning his wife fixed us breakfast and the family refused to take any money for their hospitality! I’m 76 now but never forgot that !

80% of your negatives are positives for me.
  • No major league sports and no large cities sounds good to me 👍

As a LIFE LONG resident, I can say we don't want people like the one who made this video here. Keep the riff raff away, and keep it FREE HERE!!

Everything you list as a disadvantage are the very reason I would call it a good place to call home!!

It's a great state; tons to see, and a lot of history.

I was just on a 8 day road trip and spent 2 days in SD, and the best meal we eat was in SD. and the roads where good, example a normal 2 lane road in my home state, was a nice 4 lane road with hardly any traffic in SD and on I-90 we stopped at the cleanest and nicest restroom ive ever been to. And I forgot, gas pices wore almost $1.50 less per gallon then my home state. Now that said, I rather live somewhere warmier in the Winter months. And Menards also have stores in SD.
  • This is obviously produced by someone from a big city who values things many folks in South Dakota don't. Just because you like sports teams, weird big city food and other urban "amenities" doesn't mean everyone does. Talk about being judgemental! Yes I've been to South Dakota, and I loved it. Try and catch large trout or see beautiful scenery in NYC or LA, ain't gonna happen.

as a person who lived in SD for years..... my part of SD had no tornadoes
  • The license age is because of farmers and the need to operate equipment and vehicles

This is the most outstanding collection of stock video clips I have ever seen. There's a clip for everything! People hating food. People addicted to gambling. AMAZING

I feel like these kinds of pros and cons lists on smaller areas are all written by insufferable extroverts who think everyone thinks like them. No loud and dirty urban centers? No messy night life? Super empty and quiet? These are all huge pros to me. The biggest pro of all is that the loud extroverts don't wanna go there.

I love living in South Dakota because it’s fun to explore and it has a lot of history

This state still sounds like a winner. More open space, scenery, and quiet. Plus one less conflict with the people living there. Sports teams. Especially if you lived in both Minnesota and Wisconsin like I have.

I think I want to live there based on this video keep urban trash away
