Well done Tim, on 40M I've been concentrating on NA, SA and Caribbean, some VK at night, early morning. Definitely need to check out VK/ZL in the mornings. Congratulations πŸ‘ again.

Always been a fan of the doublet. Solid performer. Great video!

Well done on the ZL contact Tim , your zig zag doublet works very well and I have been on the receiving end a few times, just goes to show what can be done with a bit of wire and not a lot of space. Keep the videos coming so others can learn from them. 73 for now Paul πŸ‘πŸ‘

Nice work Tim, inspirational for all of us πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Congratulations on your contact with Ron, I've also worked him on my homemade antenna and was jumping round the garden at 7am, the neighbours must of thought I was mad lol πŸ˜†

New Zealand on 40m ! I’m jealous. Congratulations (through gritted teeth) lol

Thank you, that was a great news & I like the β€œbending antenna ideas”, give me confident to try at our small backyard too. 73 VK.

Been following your vids for a while now Tim and have been playing about with a doublet myself, managed to get a 21.5 meter each leg along the back fence outwith the back garden along a fence, works an absolute treat on all bands for me. Keep up the good vids πŸ‘

These videos have inspired me to make a doublet 102 feet .... just waiting on the insulators for the ends.. coming any day now... Cant wait to get it up.

Well done Tim. Its always fun to experiment with antennas. 73 Joe
  • Good to see this Tim and thanks for making it. I am indeed inspired to have a go. Length is no problem but lack of height is but you have shown that you don't have to do it to the text book. I'm hoping to manage 160m. 73.

Well done Tim, you must be getting a nice low lobe off that antenna somewhere! Just the other day i worked into Kentucky with the 818 on 5w and a bit of wire sloping down from the tree in the garden and the guy in US was amazed with my signal. Oh, and i was also using a short run of RG58. Nowt wrong with that on HF. Its all starting to sound very promising for the months and years ahead so hopefully we are all going to have some fun with our radios in the near future....lets face it.....we could all do with a bit of fun at the minute..73, Sid
  • I know I could bend it like you have but I wish my house was more Central to my plot. Windoms work the available space much better for me. Suppose my plot is Rectangular with the natural feed point at around a Third. Have HT Electricity lines to One end (else I could run another 30 Yards into Neighbours land) (WOW Potentially 80 Yards of available antenna space) and 240v lines running all the way down the long side. So have a FANTASTIC plot, in the Countryside, and the Guy that lived here before me was a Ham G3BZK (I am M1BZN would have been neat to get 3 letters earlier) and here I am moaning with 4 HF Antennas and 2 VHF UHF :-) Like the videos Tim, keep them coming.
  • Hi Tim, many congrats. Before you said his callsign and name I wondered if it was Ron 😁. Also was dancing πŸ•Ί around the shack recently making a very scratchy exchange with Ron and my EFHW on 40m. Great feeling, I have even worked him twice now in two weeks and had a bonus Jamaica station afterwards. Just ordered an ampro 20 having been inspired by your other videos. What a great collection of qsos mobile. Best 73s Steve
