Me sitting here as a 42 year old guy listening to a 50 year old guy getting life advice from a 62 year old guy has to be one of the best wisdom hand-me-downs I've been a part of.

What a guest, kudos Mark. Sir Steve is absolutely my most revered athlete unbelievable individual and thoroughly wonderful man.
  • Top bloke. Down to earth. Humble. Not living in the past. And one of our greatest athletes.

What a scoop to get Sir Steve Redgrave on your channel, and glad the chat had some deeper meaning, excellent stuff!
  • @turbokeene
Mark - superb effort. I’ve never seen Steve this comfortable, relaxed and candid in an interview before. Kudos 👌
  • I was fortunate when I was at school to have had a trip organised by our school priest to Henley regatta and the small group that went had the privilege of meeting Sir Steve Redgrave and Sir Matthew Pinsent 1 year out from the Atlanta games. They were man mountains but so extremely genuine in how they spoke to us. Absolute confidence yet humility and kindness. He has always been a hero and an inspiration and I'm so lucky to have grown up at a time when he was at the peak of his powers. As a swimmer, Aleksandar Popov, Ian Thorpe and Michael Phelps have been my idols. However Sir Steve, Sir Matthew, Sir Chris Hoy and more recently Usain Bolt have certainly summed up what it is to be an Olympian. Legend and always will be.

Sir Steve - so honest about very personal issues & so humble about his legendary career. Great advice and a brilliant interview.

There's nothing worse than that feeling of not wanting to get out of bed. Thanks to people like you Mark and Sir Steve talking about it, hopefully many other men will feel able to reach out and get the help they need before it's too late.

Greatest British athlete ever. And Sir Steve is not too shabby.
  • When I was 16 I had the pleasure of racing against Sir Steve at Kingston head of river. Already a legend, he was in the Leander 8 and as they cruised past us on the way to their starting place, you just heard their cox ask "Is that ok Steve?" to which he replied "No, take it up!" He was an absolute animal and a great champion.

Great you got Sir Steve Redgrave on the show! Looking forward for the next 30+ minutes. The opening story is already killing me😁By the way, anyone ever owned a Capri with working brakes (asking for a friend)?😅
  • Brilliant interview, thank you for making this one happen. As a 54 year old male trying to look after my health its comforting to hear these kind of conversations knowing it is becoming more socially acceptable to talk about.

Bollocks to aging gracefully. At 59 years old, I'm gonna be the best that I can and keep pumping the weights and cycling/walking to keep fit. I'm not gonna go without a fight and will enjoy every minute of it!
  • @pak3211
Sir Redgrave is a national treasure. One of my favorite rowers along with James Cracknell and Matthew Pinsent!
  • The look on Marks face when he was talking to Steve is priceless 😊you can tell this meant a lot to Mark 👍🏻 amazing job both of you 👊👊👊 absolutely loves this 👍🏻👍🏻

What a wonderful man. What he said about retirement is so true - even in corporate life. I had my best job in the last three years (63-66), and the biggest success of my life days before the big-R. It leaves you hollow.
