Young Hilary Hahn played perfectly. Older Hilary Hahn is starting to become a legend.

If you can imagine growing up with your mother playing this piece in the living room, you can imagine my childhood. And she continued playing till she couldn't play to the highest level, when she was 96. Now when I hear the violin, it's liking hearing my mother in the room, singing to me through the violin music she so masterfully played. It brings me joy, and tears to my eyes, and an a heavy heart knowing I shall never see her again.

Hilary Hahn's greatest talent is the ability to give every note and detail of a piece its due. She never overlooks anything for the sake of passion or drama. And, yet, she never wants for that drama either, because as she plays a piece so straight the piece's own drama shines that much brighter.

My dad is playing in that orchestra

This is so impressive already, but playing while hulahooping is her ultimate form.
  • I love how sparingly the full force of the orchestra is used in this piece, it adds so much drama when they come crashing in like a breaking wave.

Doctor: you have 26 mins left to live Me: watches Hilary Hahn slay this concerto for 25 mins and 15 sec spends my last 45 secs crying because of how beautifully mesmerizing it was
  • I have been waiting for Hilary since I am 6 yrs old.I enjoyed Heifetz, Menuhin & Kreisler .I am now 84 & well worth the wait.

My late father used to hum parts of the 3rd movement, and I never knew what it was. I only found out by accident after he died - now I have found the finest way to conjure up memories of him. Thanks to all the players here - but Hilary Hahn - I see you in a new light.
  • Somethings not right here ? This has had 2.6 million views and I've watched it 2.7 million times ? Seriously though - this is absolute perfection from start to finish.

6:55 A grey-haired gentleman from the audience was really enjoying the best moments in the concerto and nodding and smiling at Hilary. What a lovely capture from the camera.❤

Always amazing how modest those classical musicians are despite the level of difficulty classical music is. Meanwhile a singer with a 4 chords song will jump on the stage being like I'm the star.

I couldn’t sleep, thinking about this piece. It’s weird, I was so relieved that I could leave the violin behind when I entered college. It was such a painful aspect of my life for so long, yet I’m only realizing how rewarding it was after I’ve put it down for good. Thinking about all the time I spent trying to perfect this piece and hating myself over it hurts but also makes me smile. Music was really all I had. And it’s still so beautiful, enough to keep me up. Now I’m here listening to it in full for the first time in years. It’s 2 am.

Her articulation and bowing is almost like a mathematical perfection.
