  • Inspired by how she has her head on straight! Loved this quote about the running themes of her films: "what place am I occupying and how am I affecting other people." Success as a filmmaker "not a weight, a blessing."
  • I just happened to catch CBS Mornings interview with MFG. When it was mentioned that Ava DuVernay was one of her guess, I made certain to block a time to view it. Ava DuVernay is a ray from the Sun, she brilliantly illuminates a story in such a way that is so relatable to its authentic contents. The way she and her outstanding crew made a most prolific author Isabel Wilkerson's book , Caste:The Origins of Our Discontent breathable and digestible is indeed an astonishing bit of film making that has no equal. I am a avid film watcher from Bogart to Hitchcock, from DeMille to Spike Lee 😀 from Blaxploitation films to Kubrick to Ken burns to Dr."Skip" Gates and many independent film makers of our time. Ava may be somewhat new to this but is indeed a Tour de Force to be reckon with in the 21st Century !!! I will continue to be on the look out for her upcoming projects and support her Array productions. Any director who can have a Funko Pop Directors figure made in there image has obviously made it onto a many radar. May your Star continue to Shine Brightly for all the World to see for you are a Shining Star !!! 🎉🎉🎉 For Your Consideration, When They See Us The Thirteenth Origin Thank You MFG, and much, much thanks to Miss DuVernay 🎉🎉🎉
  • Space is exactly what’s missing as an extremely creative person, surrounded completed works of art invading the comfort zone of producing more works. These types of dialogue are inspiring and motivating. I have quite of few more years on you both and have not made my mark. Appreciate listening to the journies of such notable architects. ThanX so much✌🏽💙🙏🏽

I turn 60 this year in November, but I think and act as if I were 30 years old.
  • @gilbertoadc
In the past, I said I was 20 years old, now I've increased it a little and I say I'm 30.
  • Gosh! Love this dialogue! I learn something new every day! Totally agree…where did the word “bored” come from! Never liked that either, what you wanna do…? All over the place, I am, altho wish I wasn’t!😩✌🏽💙🙏🏽

That's so interesting! Asking "what do you want to become?" IS a box. Like there's some kind of end destination, or that a job title IS becoming. While there's no end destination in life (except death); you are constantly becoming, and job title is NOT you.
  • 11:36 We need to care about our place in the world and what we add to it as opposed to what we are taking from it.
  • @LittleMew133
I have Caste on my reading list. This talk really piques my interest, going to prioritize picking it up next.
