WE SOLD EVERYTHING | World Travel Update in Retirement #88

We sold everything and we show you how to travel the world full time. Last year we did a video explaining what led up to that decision. We thought now was a good time to give you an update after a year of expat living in retirement travel to share some of our lessons learned and surprises along the way.

In the past year, we completed our Airstream journey around the United States to see all 50 states and all 51 National Parks in the lower 48. We then sold our Airstream to start our full time world travel.

We spent the next four months in Central America and Colombia, including a side trip to Dubai for the 2020 World EXPO. After some visiting with our kids and grandchildren, we started our nine month adventure in Europe, where we are currently on month 4 in Romania.

Full time world travel in early retirement has been amazing. We sold everything to live this crazy expat life as a husband and wife travel team. We are a travel couple and we are sharing our world travel vlog to help inspire, inform and entertain you as we explore.

Come along with us on our journey around the world as we vlog our adventures and "incidents!" 🤣

ABOUT US:

As the Retirement Travelers, we have always dreamed of traveling, but we never in a million years thought we would become travel vloggers and start a YouTube channel. But, that is what we did! We work hard every day to become better and create something that others will enjoy. Having a community of friends, old and new, follow our journey is fun and exciting to us.

In 2019, we achieved our goal of visiting every state in the union in our Airstream. We also visited every national park in the lower 48. We are big believers in lists, so of course we plan to see the remaining 12 parks in the next few years.

In 2021, we made the big decision to extreme downsize to just a large and small backpack, each. We started our journey around the world beginning in Central America. We hope that over the next many years, we will have seen many beautiful things, made many memories and new friends, and shared the experience with our children and grandchildren.

We hope you enjoy the journey with us. Drop us a note in the comments and be sure to hit subscribe! 🗺

  • Thanks to all of our viewers for helping us have a fantastic first year of world travel with no home. We have loved all the comments and encouragement along the way. Thank you so much!! The great thing about your content is that it clearly doesn't only apply to retired travelers. Anyone looking to travel long term can learn from your experiences and insights.
  • I am so with you on the legacy of travel and knowing the world for your grandkids. That's our "journey" at the moment with our only daughter and grandson. Were just starting but it's already impacted him. Kudos to you!!
  • What a great video. Romania is definitely on my bucket list. I'd love to see the wooden churches of Maramures, the painted monasteries in Bukovina, the fortified churches of Transylvania, and the medieval towns of Sibiu, Brasov, Sighisoara, and Biertan. You are creating a legacy that is far greater than any physical asset or material possession. You are fostering a love and curiosity for the planet we share. Thank you so much for giving us a glimpse into your adventures. May the Lord continue to bless you on your travels.

I’m so happy to know that you’ll continue YouTubing & also appreciative for the work you put in to taking us along on your travels! Continued safe travels and good health to you both, Bev & John!
  • I’m glad you have a YouTube channel. Please keep posting. I turned 50 this year. After watching your videos, I have justified my gap year and will plan for it as soon as I turn 55. I’m saving for it and adding destinations to my bucket/gap year list. Thank you for taking us along.
  • @vickig6080

You two are my favorite people. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I look forward to your videos. They inspire me to travel. Stay blessed 🙌 😇
  • We very much appreciate you channel so thank you. As a recently retired couple you are broadening our ideas for what we may want to do. So again, a big thanks for all you do. Looking forward to your future videos.

Your videos provide good guidance as to what places to visit. I am 68 years old and just got back from a trip to central Europe. It is important to realize how good your health and mobility are, don't wait until you are too old to do it. Our group had an 80 year old man who had problems walking and his trip was very difficult. Although I am in a reasonable good shape, I realize that this window for traveling at my age has a time limit, and honestly I accepted it, but will continue traveling while I can. Your advise for downsizing is very sound. In my case I like to have a place that I can call home and where I can recharge and plan my next trip. We bought a small condo in Guatemala very appropriate for the 2 of us. The weather there is like spring most of the year and people are very friendly. Our son and grandchildren are in California and honestly I don't know how much they appreciate our travel sharing with them, but is ok ,maybe they will when they have a family. Please start selling your merchandise , the T shirts, I think is a good design and maybe you guys will design good travel gear for us seniors. Keep on Traveling
  • @Kari-Evan
Please keep doing your videos- they are giving my husband and I the confidence to do this too. We’ve changed our timeline so we can start traveling sooner
  • I'm glad you have a you tube channel. It's enjoyable to watch you explore and see how well you get along! I often think that traveling is so great for your health since you do so much walking/hiking, spend time outdoors, and are so happy (not to mention all the delicious food). I learn from your planning and experiences and like how you bring a sense of purpose into your travels.:)
  • Bev and John, thanks for letting us run around the world with you. It is refreshing to see your video's that are positive, joyful, and inspired with a smile. We too love to travel and we just spent six weeks in Turkey and Greece (May/June). We found all the people there to be friendly and very helpful as we made our way. The vast majority of people are simply good, hard working people. I was interested in your comments about leaving a legacy for your grandchildren, that is a great idea and will be a blessing for them. We currently have our first 2 grandkids on the way!
  • I appreciate you doing the videos. They are educational and inspiring. I too wish to do some slow travel and I’ve learned a lot from you two. Cheers and God bless.
