  • Such a chill video. Thank you for not putting obnoxious bumping music in there. A pleasure to watch.
  • I'm So Proud of Everyone Whome, has kept This Beautiful Machine fully operational at Every Threshold Ready Moment. 💪🇺🇸
  • Not Straddle Fortress! It is a STRATO (as in stratosphere) Fortress. No B-52 of any version is being manufactured since the early 60's. G model B-52's were mothballed some time ago so only H models are currently flying. The parachute is remotely deployed AND released from the plane!
  • @ 1:00 Boeing ended production of the B-52 when the final production B-52H model rolled out in June 1962. The Air Force has planned for a number of improvements, including new engines, new radar, and new communication systems. These major modifications would effectively re-designate the newly modified planes as B-52J models...

One of the challenges of the drag chute was to keep in inflated up to the point of jettison so it wouldn't drag across the ground.A little tricky when turning off the runway.
  • I love that model of bomber. Lived with them from the first. Biggs AFB. 3 wings.
  • Does the B-52 carry a second chute in case the first one fails?
  • The b-52 isn't that big. It just has a pretty good payload with the wings. Seriously look at the size comparisons with it and a 747. (it is fun though =p)
  • Amo ver estos vídeos sin duda Eua es el Paiz más poderoso del mundo 🌍 no hay otro más bello y tegnolojico que Eua viva Eua

i thought ALL of the 70+ active B-52's were H models? Also, I understand there's a plan to install Automatic start units aboard each aircraft to preclude use of the cartridge starts.

05:26 There are no G Models left in the arsenal. The last ones flew to AMARC in the mid-90's never to fly again.
  • I flew a Citation 2 in early 1980’s which had a drag Shute. Only used it once. We started aqua planing on a wet runway. Pulled the shura and it straightened us out. Our engineer was not impressed as he had to repack and install.

It would be good if you also say the metric system length weight distance etc...

Yellow is the "drag" (not drogue) parachute. White is the actual drogue parachute.

Isn't the "X" axis (horizontal) conventionally used for Time? That would make a difficult and lengthy learning experience a shallow learning curve.

Some of the runaways like Fairchild near Spokane are some of the world's longest. That's where they originally tested the concord.
