  • Since it’s at the bottom of the map and the area is so large, I imagine it was supposed to be for the single celled biome. Especially with how weird the sounds are

What makes this all even MORE interesting, isthat the prawn suit was ORIGINALLY meant to have a mark 3 depth module (that can still be accessed in the game's files)... imagine if the developers HAD left this "lost zone" in the game, and some player is just desperately trying to flee from one of the sea dragons, when they fall into a deep, deep hole, filled with nothing but darkness... and the sounds of something VERY, very new, lurking amongst the shadows, watching them.

That area was actually the sea dragon nesting zone, it was basically the lava lakes back in the betas where the PCF was meant to be entered from, while the lava lakes had a moonpool esque area like at the gun building, but they decided to scrap the area and just keep the lava lakes Source: memories of playing through 90% of the betas

We have the Lost River, now get ready for The Forgotten Cavern

"There's two spooky holes in the Lava zone that have weird noises and unused assets! Some people even made clips on these." "Woah cool! Can we see it?" "No."

Dude they need to talk about this when starting work on Subnautica 3. Who else is gonna try and get it on release?

The only thing below 150 meters is sand, nightmares beyond your comprehension, and a mind fucking dark abyss

I remember a long time ago while the terrain manipulator was in the game you could dig down overly far and find isolated caves that were otherwise inaccessible. Dont think any of them exist anymore, but it was cool.

Idk why they didn’t just freecam under the map to look
  • The holes that are mentioned are probably the remanences of when there was a tunnel leading from the Aurora directly into the lava lakes as this tunnel was later sealed up in future builds.
  • Yes, you can also see this in below zero. Below zero is also technically the original game and they just diverged and started making unique assets for it. You are most likely seeing the bridge where they stopped developing one game and put those assets into the new game. A lot of creatures went through a few redesigns in early below zero development and no longer look like their first iteration such as the mantis lobsters.

Something cool you can do is if you place a scanner at the lava castle base and have all max range on it you can see some sort of big box outside the map that has nothing there, and it’s not the alien base. Try it for yourself

back in a day in aearly access I was playing a lot in subnautica, when they added active lava zone, there was for a short time TWO enters to the lava zone, 1 in lost river as it is now and 1 enterance was just next to the front of Aurora in the direction of the mountains biome
  • Recently I was fighting a sea dragon in my prawn suit and wasn't paying attention and started plummeting down this hole I had never noticed before. My prawn descended below the crush depth even with the max depth module. I jumped out and drowned while watching my prawn get crushed at what must have been below 1900m. Wasn't able to find where it was again

If you falling in the void(if for some reasion you want to do that) at a point if you open map in your seaglight you will see that the map show a biome was there. But there is not thing but the void. So ye, there is a cutted biome
  • @Frostbite374.
I would be cool if it was a biome full of darkness with just one leviathan
