This week, Chris and Jordan join Jaron remotely as they are podcasting from the beach! Given the surroundings, they thought it would be a great time to talk about their favorite travel camera gear. The trio also discusses some of the biggest news stories of the last week and tackles some of the most challenging questions they've been served up yet.

We use Riverside to record all our episodes in our online recording studio: creators.riverside.fm/Petapixel

These guys are like brothers. They are on vacation together, they are even sharing the same headphones. No other channel has this chemistry, truly the best.
  • @antyt2714
I can't believe you shared a pair of earphones for an hour. That's dedication to the cast right there
  • @joefaracevideos
Chris and Jordan together, as compared to separate locations in previous podcasts, are a dynamic combination.

I really think Chris and Jordan are probably the only photographic journalists who actually do use m43 gears during their leisure time and their setups are exactly what I often use also. The 75 1.8, the 12-100 f4, the 8-25 f4, those lenses are really sharp and relatively compact especially the 75 1.8 for what it is and the look it achieves. I am glad that they are talking about it more and make people think that hey m43 does have very good options. You don’t really need to go full frame to get good images.

I have OM1 and OM5 and this year on holidays I went light with OM5. Fantastic camera for travel.

The more I watch the more I feel Jordan and Chris are like Bill and Ted. Even when they go on family vacations they are inseparable.

Really appreciate all the love for m43. I keep reaching for my very aged EM-10i and still use it quite a bit. For travel i think I’m going to rent a Tamron 20-40 in E mount

For a great travel lens.. Full frame: Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8. It is large, but bright and good and huge range. m43: lumix 14-140mm (28-280mm) Tiny, decent IQ, huge range

Love that you have your floaties with you guys. 😂😂😂 Very good show. My lawn mowing weekly companion

I use the Tamron 18-300 3.5-6.3 with my X-T4 for hiking. It's not amazing optically, but the 450mm equiv is so nice for wildlife!! And I love it for those tele landscape shots too.

Loved hearing some love for classic underwater Olympus TG6. Just back from Great Barrier Reef and nothing newer goes in the pocket yet does underwater Macro nearly as well (GoPro is all wide all the time). That TG6 still gets it done and would like to see updated TG7 that is more than just rebranding.

I'm with Jordan on the Tamron 28-200. When I bring my a7vi or ZV-E1 for travel I take the 17-28 Tamron and that 28-200 and I am covered for most all of my photo and video needs. Great travel set.
  • @senseofeverthing
You seriously just blew my mind with the Nikon AW1! I did not even know this gem existed and now I'm having a sever case of GAS!
  • @FerventAstronomy
Omg you guys are sharing earbuds that’s so cute! Probably the internet’s best bro-mance.
  • @mjpt57
Great vid (as always). I'm travelling to the UK soon. Have the Canon R6, RF24-105L f4 and an RF16 f2.8. Not the lightest gear setup. Someone I follow is a wildlife photographer and does tours to some exotic places. He swears by the OM system and its lenses. Light and compact. Crucial when dealing with airlines' restrictive luggage and carry-on limits.

Regarding the question about lens for Fuji to take while hiking. I had the same question once because I am usually doing 30-35 kilometers a day 10 days or 2 weeks in a row. For myself I decided to go as light as possible - Fuji X-E4 and XF 16-80 lens. Than I even cut the weight and chouse XC 16-50. Not ideal for wild life, far from it, actually :), but for my purposes it will do.
  • @AnthonyJGianotti
I know the last guy said one lens but as an avid hiker the best Fuji setup is the Sigma 18-50 or Tamron 17-70 paired with the XC 50-230. The 50-230 is only 375grams adding tremendous versatility for little in weight and bag space.

Love you guys! I have and love my Tamron 28-200 for everything. Still, I switched to Sony from Olympus mainly because the Olympus focus system on the older cameras sucked, but really miss the stabilization system, size and am now thinking of buying a new Olympus for travel. Ah, photography…the quintessential money sink.
