This one’s for you Feldspar

Outer Wilds
Deep Impact
Enter Giant's Deep ocean fast enough to break through the current.

Required speed - 10,000 m/s minimum

No less will work, you basically have to leave the solar system to the point where the sun is a tiny dot on your screen, and then autopilot back until thrusters engage and cancel them, use the white arrows to the side and above and below the planet to calculate the perfect angle. :) Happy Hunting

  • I once spent half the loop lining up my run towards giants deep only to crash into the orbital probe cannon at 10,000m/s 😂
  • There are usually 2 ways to do things. 1. The normal way 2. The Feldspar way
  • I love the vibe of this so much. The game put the information on how to get to the Giant Deep's core on hard to reach places, and getting there is EXTREMELLY vital in finishing the game. But you can just say "fuck that" and brute force your way in.

Nice to see this achievement is working as intended again. There was a time where you had to use and island to push you under because you couldn't breach it by speed no matter how fast you went.
  • I didn’t know how to get to the core, so I went so fast and broke through the electric barrier. Then my ship exploded.. HOWEVER I could tell Feldspar that I technically went to the core and he congratulated me for finding the trick to getting in.

I remember trying for this achievement. I decided to spend half the cycle flying away from Giant’s Deep and the other half flying back in towards it to build up maximum speed. I knew there was a risk of hitting a planet on reentry to the solar system, so I had the brilliant idea of aiming for the South Pole so I wouldn’t run into any of them. It was only after I breached the atmosphere that I realized I’d accidentally aimed for the North Pole instead, and that there was a tower in the way.
  • I once spent the almost the whole loop gaining speed for this... I died after going through the planet

When I did this one I was like 10 meters from hitting The Interloper just before Giants Deep. I kinda wish I did lmaoo
  • @echolessowl
if you want an easier and much less boring and long option, you can use the gravity cannon on brittle hollow to launch the nomai shuttle into giant's deep
  • @jlr1357
POV: You're the tracking module of the Orbital Probe Canon
  • @DoctorTex
The worst part that could happen is if you go through the cloud layer, only to end up hitting a cyclone and get tossed back up.
  • @jogzyg2036
Feldspar: Well done on figuring out the tornado trick Us: Yeah about that....
  • @maddu8437
First time I got under the currents: went to quantum moon, got into the shuttle, warped myself (by mistake) to amber twin, launched myself (also by mistake) all the way to giant’s deep which coincidently was right in front of the cannon and found myself inside the shuttle under the currents of giant’s deep
  • @Neeeeyt
How far away were you to rack up 11000m/s ?
  • @ahlex3185
how fast i expect my scout launcher to be when i launch it at the sun:
  • @Ghostsoulless
I was really disappointed you couldn’t wait until a part of the orbital cannon was pointed at the planet and launch your ship fast enough using that. Thought for sure that’s how it could be done before I read everything
  • by all rights hitting the atmosphere at 10km should have IMMEDATELY made you a pancake, not to mention hitting the water at that speed. both the air and water would have been like oobleck, a solid surface apon impact.
