Bioenno Battery Comparison Review

Published 2021-11-22
Bioenno has established a name for themselves as a premier battery and solar panel supplier for ham radio operators and the like. Today I am going over the size differences between a few of the batteries I own as well as some considerations for accessories in the Bioenno product line.

I am a year late for this video but it is the only one that makes sense to me compared to the others. Thank you very much for your time and education.
  • @45auto
Thanks for showing them side by side. Much easier to compare if you can't see them in person.
  • Fantastic batteries. Had a problem with one of the chargers and they sent a new one out within two days. Excellent customer service. You touched on it at the end...buried in the FAQ are two pdf files that show wattage and what to expect from different amp batteries. Excellent info on those pdf's. Great video! 73

Your viewers might also be interested to know that Bioenno now also has a car charger to top off your battery from your car's auxiliary (lighter) socket. A good reserve for a day of POTA.

Just found this video. Always enjoy your presentation. One thing to keep in mind is to look at the maximum continuous discharge rate, particularly when running QRO rigs. Some of the smaller batteries (not the ones you mentioned) have lower discharge rates. Last I checked the 12 amp hr battery had 20 amp max current, with smaller batteries having lower max draw. So if you bring your QRO rig out thinking you will run qrp with a smaller battery and then decide to crank it up, not only will you run out of juice faster, you might run into issues exceeding a lower battery (6 ah for example) max draw. Hope that made sense.

I really like mine :) I got a very small one to start with ♡ thank you for covering this!
  • Sweet..... This video popped up at the perfect time.. Thank you for this content appreciate it brother.

Thanks. One thing that I noticed is that Youtubers have done dozen's of videos on batteries, solar panels, solar charge controllers e.t.c with regard to radio operation. BUT I have never seen someone do a video on using the combo of a solar panel, charge controller and battery to power a rig AND charge all the little devices that you might carry camping. i.e. flashlight, cell phone, lantern, laptop e.t.c In this 21st century you would be amazed at the number of devices that we use everyday that use electricity that we do not even notice because they have become such a common part of life.

I ran the 20Ah one for IARU HF for 12 hours or more, 100W, and then used it at home for a few summer nights on the patio. They're just fantastic.

Just got the 12 ah and charger. Saving for the solar items. Thanks for this.

I like to use the 6Ah LFP Battery, and I opted for the bundled charger. I needed to source a cable to go between my Australian power outlet and the charger because I don't particularly appreciate using international power converters. Apart from that, the build quality/functionality exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend it.
  • I use a 15 AH Bioeno daily. I’m buy a second 20ah from them with another charger. I’m recommending a second charger. The 15 and 20 use the same charger. It’s nice to keep the charger with the battery. Frankly I’m standardizing on the 20ah, it’s a very flex size for many applications.
  • @forgetyourlife
you can use the 2Amp charger for any of them. It just takes longer but a slow charge is better for the battery as well. I have 6 Bioennos at this time. All are fantastic.

I Have 12V 20AH Bionanno i use for my IC 706 MKllG and i the 12V 6AH on back order, they are just a little back-logged Good Video 73. KV5P
  • I have an app on my Android, called Accubattery which monitors the battery health. The app informs some interesting things, like if you charge the battery at 80% it causes 0,22 wear cycle, 85% causes 0,31 wear cycle and so on. So if you don't need the full charge on the cellphone battery for run your day is better to charge it just to 80% or 85% in order to "save" cycles of charging and extend the battery lifespan. And the thing seems to work that way, because I usually charge the phone just to 80 - 85% and after 4 years the battery is still ok, the app informing that the battery has an estimated capacity of 81% of full charge (the battery is a model with 3000 mAh but charges now at most 2,441 mAh). 1460 days (and charges) for a battery from 2018 seems to me a good number and still with 81% of capacity. Thanks for the video! 73! 📻🇧🇷 📻🇺🇸
