After taking this car over 4000km down the east coast of Canada and back in the middle of winter, it's time to review Hyundai's IONIQ 5 EV.

As an owner of a limited trim, I can say this is unequivocally the most thorough an accurate review of the car to date.
  • The remote control forward/backward on the key fob is a great feature for wheelchair users like myself!
  • Hi Mark! I just purchased a 2024 Ionic 5. I am very pleased with this vehicle. I love the style. It is so easy to charge. Watching your video helped give me the confidence to buy my first EV! Thank you!

I've already put in my deposit after looking at different EV options, watching lots of reviews. I think it's refreshing to watch a review from a tech reviewer. No one has mentioned the screen brightness/responsiveness and I appreciate that. Great review!

I never seen this kind of unbiased, honest and excellent review of a car!! Kudos to you

Most beautiful EV car ever done until now. I fell completely in love with the futuristic retro vibe it has, the second I saw it for the first time. Too bad that it's way too expensive for me. 😐🙁

I always thought it was a weird car until I saw it live. It's STUNNING, definitely a statement car!

Great review! As a Montanan, I especially appreciate the real-world review of its wintertime capabilities/downsides. I think this affects all EVs and I'm seriously considering buying one of these! P.S. Here's a novel idea for killing time at the charging station: Read a book. I'm showing my age, I know, but... ;)

I'm growing more and more intrigued by the Ioniq 5, and your thorough, practical, balanced review tells me it is well worth my consideration when it comes time to let go of my Model 3.

Great review. Covered all the important points, no fluff or filler - just the business. Refreshing on YouTube. Thanks.

This is such a valuable EV review for Canadian, especially using EV in extreme cold weather!! I really like this Ioniq5 and is considering to get it. Thanks for sharing your experience.
  • MARK! That sunroof opening shot at 4:18 was PERFECTLY timed when the bird flew over on whatever slider system you were using...so good.

Snow handling is almost entirely dependant on tire compound. I switch from stock eco michelins to a proper winter set, makes a world of difference in safety. All seasons can get you through some snow but there is a significant gap between dedicated winter tires.

What a great review! This sort of vehicles is not available in my country, yet, but I would definitely get one, I loved it.

Best review I’ve seen on the ionic5 till date. Thank you.

UK owner here - have the smaller battery but its a really nice car - comfy and drives so damn well - some niggles but honestly really like it.
  • I'm a rare commenter! But I love your review, usually I get bored by some reviews as I'm very techie and knowledgable but your review is extremely thorough, informative and you keep it really interesting.. certainly one of my favorite reviews I have ever watched on youtube ever. Keep it up!
  • Just got here from the recently released mkbhd video to find you reviewed it 4 months ago in a far more thorough manner! great vid

We're just about at 5000 km with our Preferred RWD LR, and the biggest issues we have with it is the lack of forward facing parking sensors, side cameras. Driving wise, it's the perfect hwy car. It is sprung pretty well, but does wallow a bit over bigger bumps, soaking them up, but clearly being more on the comfy side than sporty. Range-wise, we've seen the same during the winter, but now that it's over 10C we're seeing in the 13-17kWh/100km, which pushes the range back towards 450ish total, and that's driving on 401/427/DVP.
