  • CORRECTION: At 1:51, we say that Rouhani won in 2013 and 2021, when in fact he won in 2013 and 2017 - his term ended in 2021. Apologies for this sloppy error, and we hope you nonetheless enjoy the video!
  • Letting ONE reformist run seems like a mistake from the ayatollahs' perspective. They should have taken a note from Putin and led three reformers run, to split the vote.

"What reformist victory might mean for Iran and the world..." Well, he's not a radical reformist, for one thing. And even if he were, the president is more of a figurehead in Iran. The power lies squarely with the supreme leader... So... Nothing much will change at all 🤷🏻‍♀️

4:25 Huh? He never said such thing! He said he will stop “harsh treatment” Hijab has been mandatory since 1980, it was made mandatory by the Ayatollah of Ayatollahs; Khomeini No one in the regime would ever dare to question it, even Mousavi didn’t have the guts to do this, promising to repeal on the other hand is literally suicide. The only reformist that dared to say such thing (still not on TV) is Mostafa Tajzadeh,he’s in jail now…

Raisi's death wasn't mysterious, it was just unexpected. Lacking any evidence contrary to the official explanation, it's the simplest to accept. Plane trouble can happen to anyone in a storm. You could blame the US for sanctions that made it difficult to properly service the plane, but identifying anyone who would benefit from Raisi's death would be pretty tenuous.
  • I can't even imagine with such a low turnout that reformists lead. Reminds about Bangladesh Boycotting Election season...
  • @BigbrotherMK
One thing clarify as an Iranian, reformist and hardliner in this context are both consider hardliner compare to average Iranian! Anyone who is accepted in guardian council is part of the system nevertheless of the subgroups in that system.
  • Okay today I learnt that Iran was FAR more democratic than I initially thought Still not at all democratic, but just more than I thought 😂
  • @jimbojones247
Mysterious death? How? Helicopter downed in heavy fog
  • Damn! Props to your researcher. As an Iranian, I confirm that the assessment you shown on the video is 90% correct. Pretty impressive given the complex political spectrum in Iran.
  • @arianrezaei13
Imagine getting a figure candidate that says he'll try to improve our living standards "somehow" without opposing political norms being seen as a liberal victory

I'm a fan of Mohammad Javad Zarif, He is one of sharpest FMs any country has ever had. He navigated the JCPoA and maintained relations with my country not just at National but also state, media and regional levels on both sides of the aisle. Minimised tensions caused by USAs trading restrictions between India and Iran. Absolute diplomat.
  • I just wish for peace and good for every country. If Pezeshkian wins,I hope he goes for peace and better lives of Iran.

I know a lot of people joked "oh... it's only the president" when the helicopter crashed since the supreme leader is the real power, but keep in mind the Ebrahim Raisi was considered the probable heir to Ali Khamenei and that option is now off the table. So it does matter in the long run.
