This guy is the living spirit of 90s id software.

Love his thinking, humor and explanations.

I love it so much when Devs actually care about their game. Hugo is the freakin' Creative Director of this game, and based on the way he's talking about Doom it is SO obvious that he's played through the game himself, most likely multiple times, and he absolutely loves it. There are tons of games out there that I find myself asking "Did they even play their own game?"

No Clip is honestly what we need in todays video game culture. Real docs that actually get down to the core. This is what all gamers want in life. This content is awesome

sees title of video, sees length of video YES. YES. YEEEESSSSS.

"People BOW to me... and I'm just SLEEPING."

I absolutely adore this guy. he's not pretentious, he's super passionate, and he is so well-spoken.
-
ID has found a new John Romero.
-
Are you kidding me? A Last Dragon fan and he worked on Pacific Rim on top of Doom? He's basically my idol now.
-
Dude, thanks so much for uploading the entire interview with this guy. I think he might be my favorite game developer bar none. (Sorry John Carmack, i still love you)
-
I honestly don't think we would have gotten the DooM game we did if this guy wasn't involved. Fucking legend.
-
This dude is so fucking cool.

" who cares if it's oldschool or that school if it's fun, it's the funschool that matters " - hugo martin 2016 quoted for friggin truth! \m/
-
yay more Hugo

"The intro was one of the last things we did" Hugo really learned from John Romero. That's almost EXACTLY what John said about E1M1: it was the last level they created. It was going to set the tone for the game, and it had to be one of the best things the player would see. It had to capture the player's attention from the get-go. Brilliant!

the part where he kinda censors himself when talking about robocop when he has been swearing the whole time just cracks me up every time.
-
No joke, I've listened to this hour-long interview like six times.
-
If Doom Eternal can give us another hour of Hugo Martin...please make it happen!
-
