Originally charlie wasn’t the protagonist of hazbin hotel and had a completely different design.
Charlie and the rest of the main cast were originally in vivzie’s other project zoophobia. She eventually took these characters and created hazbin hotel with it. Charlie was a sinner that died in the 1830s. Eventually vivzie cut the character, but instead created a new protagonist for the show. She then named this new character charlie because she loved the name so much.

I actually like her show design, it’s very dynamic with nice angles and shaping, the colours look very nice and feel less muted and the shapes less squishy and stretchy, 9/10

I like all of her designs, looks like she’s growing up in terms of being a protagonist :)

I actually like her wearing black compared to red. It stands out amongst the background more and makes her pop out comapred to the rest of the characters that mainly wear red. Maybe, in some way, she'd look good in blues instead of reds to make her REALLY stand out and show her morality contrasted with the other demons.

To be honest, I like her pilot design a lot more. I think the criticism I agree with the most is that there’s too much red and Charlie without the jacket (like we see in the pilot) is breath of fresh air in terms of the color scheme.

I was thinking about Vaggies design today and I was like “I wonder why Vaggie was designed after a moth? I think that’s pretty cool though, I wonder if she would do any moth-like things like follow lights or something.” Then I thought more and hit the sudden realization why Vaggie likes Charlie so much. Charlie is literally a ray of sunlight and since moths are attracted to light Vaggie is attracted to Charlie since she is so light and bubbly all the time. 🤯🤯 (Please say I’m not stupid for realizing this JUST NOW😭😭😭)

Wow! I had no idea that back then Charlie wasn't a protagonist right before Hazbin Hotel and that she's a red haired demon who's a sinner plus now I know why she wore a black suit in some of the artwork. Personally I prefer Charlie as a protagonist and I love her design in the Pilot and for the upcoming show, it makes her look really adorable.😮😊💕🌈
