the new cargo loading at the mining outpost is better now. the C2 was never meant for the small outposts. small ships for the mining outposts, the C2 is supposed to always go to the Distribution centers for bulk hauling.
  • I think its all cool and a great idea but think about this: how many times have you been trying to pick something up and it rubberbands back to the ground or drop something and it reappears in your hand 7 times in a row? now think about doing that hundreds of times. this cargo update is going to destroy servers even more. one cargo ship load spawned in and everyone lags out across the system

Makes all those ships with exterior cargo, like the nomad or the RAFT alot more interesting.

Traditional hauling (w/ the alerts) is dead. This is their new system as detailed in the missions SCL, and this is a good thing because it gives every size and tier of cargo ship a purpose in the game for the small, supply, and bulk grades across different distances

The only way solo cargo will be safe is if you use smaller ships to take cargo to the spaceport where larger ships can be loaded up for transport to TDD in cities.

The big question is broader - will AI escorts be good enough (and affordable enough) that one can run cargo without needing to be in a an org.

The changes are following the "as intended" plans from a long way back, as others mention. Big ships for bigger jobs, from safety in hangars, or with crews for protection. As intended. Smaller ships for smaller, faster loads that are worth less to pirates. As intended. Ship prices going higher, towards actual rewards, instead of an evening's casual risk free work. And yes, smaller profits in blue collar solo gaming of all kinds, also as intended. For 2 reasons. One, no one ever made it rich trucking without a shitton of long hard work. And two, MMO's are all grinds. That is by design. You either enjoy the gameplay and that is why you play, or you just want the end result right away as fast as possible ...and want a different game type. So yes, as intended. Less instant profit, more risk, value to team play that doesn't exist for solo play in the same way, grinding for rewards in gameplay we enjoy, rewards that match risk and effort, and no more magic gamey crap like inventories accessible from wherever. All of it, as intended. (edited for grammar)

last time i played 3.23, Armistices zones no longer protect your ship from harm... So you can GET attacked but you CAN'T fire back... Did that change?
  • @Jomanda76
I think that once the novelty of the loading and discharging ships has worn off, most players will be forced to have multiple copies of the same ship to keep gameplay (and progression) moving forward...

I subbed cuz ur voice and accent

Will cargo hauling be profitable enough to afford escorts. Capped at 20-30% margins the answer is no. I will try hauling when the patch comes out but if it's tedious then I will do something more entertaining. If pirates felt like they were waiting forever before this may redefine the concept.
  • @korniestpatch
Cargo is not dead. This is the only game mechanic i interact with. Space trucking for life.

Somehow in the last 10 years of development a mindset of this beeing a solo game has errupted ... its not a solo game .. its an MMO game at heart so i really dont understand why everyone is so solo minded .. as soon as the server meshing goes live with 200+ players on a server solo play will get ALLOT harder and dangerous ... so carebears and solo players . fasten your seatbelts and please withold us of your essays about how unfair this game is and the game need PVE servers .. since that will NEVER happen
  • @edenyan7237
but then again, C2 is desigened as a 1-2 crew ship, it only has two sits in cockpit and 2 beds. it sells for 400 dollars and marketed as a 1-2 men ship. if one person can't operates it, CIG should open a refund channel, not refund to store credit but in real money. in real life freighter ship and air freight crew don't move the cargo, porter does, porters hired by the wharf and airport warehouses, not by the shipment company.
  • @alandab
Traditional hauling is dead. IDK how much hauling you've done, but traditionally (as in real life), hauling has ALWAYS been a solo career. CIG is being run by idiots.
  • @VoidingNixx
Bye-Bye sandbox.... hello boring linear mission gameplay.
