Sen. Peter Welch on why he's not endorsing Kamala Harris yet after Biden ends reelection bid

Sen. Peter Welch, a Democrat from Vermont who had called on President Biden to leave the 2024 race, said he's not endorsing any candidate right now when asked if he would back Vice President Harris for the White House. Biden announced Sunday he's ending his reelection campaign.

    She needs to show herself as being the best candidate, and at this late date, a good VP pick will go a long way. She needs to state her own positions distinct from Biden so that she’s not perceived as a Biden surrogate with no substance.
