I Tried The Weirdest Ice Cream Flavors

Ice Cream Base Recipe:
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
2/3 cup sugar
1/8 tsp fine sea salt
6 large egg yolks
1. Simmer heavy cream, milk, sugar, and salt until completely dissolved (5 mins).
2. Remove pot from heat and in separate bowl whisk egg yolks.
3. While whisking, slowly pour in about half of the hot cream mixture.
4. Return pot over medium-low heat and cook until mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon.
5. Strain through a fine strainer and cool. Then place in ice cream maker (along with desired additions) and enjoy!

the craziest i had was tomato basil ice cream at an ice cream shop in Front Royal as one of their experimental flavors, it was surprisingly really good!

Mashed potato & ice cream is a nice combo too, you can try boiled mashed potato salad (don't put any oil, onion, pepper etc) & only sprinkle a bit of salt & sugar in it for added flavor. Then mix it good with vanilla ice cream. Fun Fact: Some commercials use mashed potatoes instead of real ice cream to shoot their ads because the potatoes don't melt under the heat of the studio lights. So yes, the creamy scoop of scotch delight could be just a potato salad without the dressing.

Fun fact: Vanilla icecream and orangejuice is actually a quite popular dish in my homecountry germany. You will find it in most ice cafes under "sanfter Engel" wich translates to "soft angel".
