One thing I would like to suggest to anyone connecting to a repeater or link node... after you connect say your call sign so that anyone on the repeater will know you are there. Some Echolink nodes are set up to announce stations that have connected, but when the ham who connects says nothing, anyone on the repeater doesn't know whether the ham was looking for activity or had a problem with their station.

I have a th-d74a handheld that I would like to connect to Echolink on my local repeater. In short - I just need to tune to the repeater freq/tx tone and then press the PTT while keying in the dtmf?

Hello. Quick question. So once I'm connected with a mobile radio to a node for let's say a conference through a local repeater does everyone else on that repeater hear the conference?

Do you need to enter first the frequency, offset and if any the pl tone or ctcss , and then the node number just how you did on the video? And my main question i get confused, if you already have enter the frequency, offset, and pl tone and are already connected to the repeater , then why do you need to enter the node number as you did on the video? Is it to connect to echo link but aren't you already connected when you did enter the freq, offse, and tone ?

Awesome explanation! Iβm new to ham as well. As long as the repeater has the βoptionβ to echo link, you simply just need to connect to the repeater, key up while imputing the node, then your connected the 2nd repeater around the world?? Appreciate the clarification!

Does using Echolink from my local repeater mean that everyone locally can hear my qso? Or am I linked into another pathway and others can use the repeater for a separate conversion while I'm on Echolink? Thanks...new ham here.. KI5LCX

Great video unfortunately in SW.. PA the over rAit epeater features are all locked out on area our rarea epeaters . We also went thru the c4fm repeaters fad it's over now only thing remaining but s DMR Wich is 1/4 range sitting still not moving . Echo link is truly the originator you are lucky .

Do you have to ask permission to use Echolink via a local repeater? I am a new ham with a few local repeaters which are very quiet but have Echolink facilities so it would be great to make contacts worldwide using Echolink via one of these repeaters?

So the radio will connect without being hooked to a wifi or hotspot? I'm missing something here and can't find video 1

Do you need to have the app on your phone? It's very confusing. Everywhere I look when I google "Echolink" constantly talks about the app and how to download. I tried doing what you did in the video; connecting to the local repeater, then keying in the node of the distant echolink, but I get no response. So am I missing the app or something else?

Is this with any mobile radio or specific radios?
