"Autopsy of a fan"

Published 2024-07-09
Haier fan from 2005. I've cleaned it many times. Took it apart to lubricate a few times. The blades spin freely. Yesterday, went to turn it on, nothing.
I tried another room and receptacle. Same thing. Yes, it had power at the receptacle, I tested it.
I suspected the thermal fuse because of videos I've watched of fan motor repairs. I tested for continuity. The power cord and switch and wires going to the motor were ok.
So, I decided to try to find the thermal fuse. It sure looked different than I expected.
But I was able to ID it on the Internet.
It showed TF 115° C. That's the max temp I guess before it blows.
Maybe someone else could have fixed it. It's too hard to get to the fuse without cutting wires for me.
